microSDHC Performance Benchmarks Class 10 Class 6 Class 2

Jul 22, 2011 by Paul White

If you have a smart phone they you likely also have an microSDHC card for storage of your photos, videos, and Apps.  However all microSDHC cards are not created equal.  In this blog I will run some benchmarks on a few cards I had laying around.  I will test a Sandisk 16GB class 2 microSDHC, a Samsung 8GB class 6 microSDHC, and a Lexar 32GB class 10 microSDHC memory card. Hopefully people can use this data to help them make informed decisions on what card they want to buy.

Upgrading to an HTC Sensation 4G

Upgrading to an HTC Sensation 4G

Jun 26, 2011 by Paul White

My Current Cell Phone is an HTC HD2 that I ported to Android 2.3.  There hasn't been much reason to upgrade, as most phones had the same screen size, or the same resolution.  Finally the HTC Sensation has arrived.  In my opinion its the logical upgrade from my HD2.  Same 4.3" LCD, higher Resolution, and 8 MP camera with 1080P video recording, along with 1.2 Ghz Dual Core snap dragon CPU.

Tmobile 3G Sim Card vs 2G Sim Card

Tmobile 3G Sim Card vs 2G Sim Card

May 10, 2011 by Paul White

After being with T-Mobile for a little over a year, I almost had the last straw with poor 3G connectivity. That was until I figured out there are two types of Sim Cards.  2G Sim Cards and 3G Sim Cards. If you have been having dropped calls and poor 3G data coverage, you need to visit a T-Mobile store and they will gladly exchange out your 2G Sim card for a 3G Sim card, and its free too!  I know what you are thinking?  How can I tell which sim card I have?  Read this article for the details.

Verizon Thunderbolt and LTE Benchmark Very Fast

Verizon Thunderbolt and LTE Benchmark Very Fast

Mar 27, 2011 by Paul White

A buddy of mine ( Thomas ) recently upgraded from his old HTC Touch Pro 2 to a HTC Thunderbolt.  Going from Windows Mobile 6.5 to Android 2.2.  I thought this move was a good one, and I asked him to send me some benchmarks on how his new phone performs on Verizon's LTE network ( real 4G ).  What he sent was unbelievable.

how to Root a mytouch 3g Slide

how to Root a mytouch 3g Slide

Mar 5, 2011 by Paul White

Recently I bought a Tmobile MyTouch 3g Slide off ebay for about $200.  Of course the stock 3g slide comes with lots of nice features, but lacks stuff like teathering and wifi router that tmobile would rather you not have or pay extra for.  The easiest way around this is to root your phone and then update it with one of the many custom ROMs available on the web.  Well let me just say that this rooting experience was not easy.  But if you are serious about getting it done and want the best tutorial to do it, I know just the place.

La Crosse BC-700 NiMH Battery Charger Review

La Crosse BC-700 NiMH Battery Charger Review

Feb 10, 2011 by Paul White

In this modern day everything is powered by batteries.  Especially if you have kids.  Every toy these days requires at least 3-4 AA, AAA, C, or D batteries.  There is no reason to buy regular old single use Alkaline Batteries.  This is because rechargeable batteries have come a long way in the past 10 years.  But before you go off and buy yourself a pack of Energizer Rechargeables, there is something you need to know.  All batteries are not created equal, and the same goes for chargers.  If your set of rechargeable batteries seems to no longer hold a charge, it could be it has developed a memory.  However if you have the La Crosse BC-700 AA / AAA Battery Charger, then you can usually refresh these batteries removing the memory making them like new.

T-Mobile Houston 3G network gets boost in Pearland

T-Mobile Houston 3G network gets boost in Pearland

Jun 23, 2010 by Paul White

Today my Comcast Cable Modem Service went out again.  So I plugged my HTC HD2 phone into my desktop via the USB cable, loaded up Internet Sharing and started tethering.  In the past I would get terrible speeds ( mostly due to not being able to get a strong enough 3G signal.  If I was at home, I was on Edge ( 14KB - 20KB ) transfers at best.  If I was near the towers the speeds were better, but they still couldn't touch AT&T's HSDPA.  So today when I plugged my phone into workstation I wasn't expecting anything special.  But instead I got a big surprise. 3.53 Mb/s downstream, 1.44 Mb/s Upstream via tethering with my HD2 on the Tmobile 3G network in Pearland ( Houston )

Why Apple is OverValued and the IPhone 4 will be its demise

Jun 9, 2010 by Paul White

Apple LogoBefore I get a flood of Apple Fans emailing me, and telling me to go F myself, please read my complete blog in detail before you jump to conclusions.  To make a long blog post short, I feel that Apple has finally hit a point where its getting too much media attention.  This attention will create unrealistic expectations for both consumers and investors.  As a result I feel their stock is overvalued.  The price is currently being driven by speculators who are making decisions by pure emotion and hype rather than looking at the fundamentals of Apple as a company.
