How to install Android 4.0 on your HTC Sensation

How to install Android 4.0 on your HTC Sensation

Posted on Feb 12, 2012 by Paul White

I have put together a guide for those of you who wish to upgrade your HTC Sensation to run Android 4.0. Android 4.0 brings additional performance improvements over Android 2.3. I will update this guide as new ROMs are released. Before you use this guide understand the kinds of ROMs I like. I prefer AOSP ROMs. This is the way google originally intended the OS to function, and look. I don't like the HTC Sense Framework. If you want a ROM with Sense 4.0 you will need to explore one of the many other ROMs on XDA-Developers which has Sense built in. Please do not ask any questions about how to install Android 4.0 with Sense. I write this guide for others like myself who want the fastest ROM possible, with a bare bones layout, allowing you to install only the APPs, rather than having to see dozens of APPs you will never use in your APP drawer.

Update 4/13/2012
I am currently running HyperNonSense V2.4 with Faux Kernel. By far the best ROM I have ever used! I have updated this install guide for installing HyperNonSense V2.4.

Why not wait for Android 4.0 upgrade from T-Mobile or HTC?

Some people might be waiting on HTC or T-Mobile to just come out with an Android 4.0 update for the sensation. Even though this will eventually happen. The ROM HTC or T-Mobile is going to give you will be full of bloat, causing your phone to run slow. If you are like me you want your phone to be fast, and smooth and not have anything installed you don't use. I prefer the ROMs I use to be bare bones. Allowing me to make my own customizations and install only the APPs I want. Nothing I hate more than dozens of Apps taking up space in my APP drawer.

Why is an AOSP ROM better than a HTC Sense ROM?

HTC Sense is a framework of APPs and Libraries that comes stock with most HTC Phones. This includes custom SMS, Email, Calendar, Camera, Clock Widget and other APPs. However some people like myself don't like the APPs that HTC includes with their devices. We prefer the cleaner look of the Google AOSP (Android Open Source Project) Apps. These are Apps that were written by Google. They are fast, and take up minimal storage space.

The goal of most developers who work with making AOSP ROMs is making a very bare bones OS that includes the basics, but none of the bloat. The result is a ROM that takes up 1/3 of the space, runs faster, and has longer battery life. The process of building AOSP ROM's is very tedious. Developers carefully remove libraries, and APPs, while trying to keep the phone stable. Just like your home computer. When your phone boots up it is running multiple processes in the background. Each of these processes slows your phone down, and kills your battery life. Your phone doesn't need a dozen process to run in the background in order to function. It just needs the basics.

About HyperNonSense

HyperNonSense is the ROM I currently use. The developer ( SpIder ) has revolutionized the way we install ROMs. It used to be when you install a ROM you have to flash the ROM ( big zip file ). After the ROM is installed you have to reinstall all your APPs. This was very tedious. The developer changed the way we install ROMs by breaking up the ROM into 2 packages. The ROM Zip, and the ADDONs Zip. We flash the ROM, then we flash the ADDONs, which allows us to pick and choose which Apps we want added to the ROM.

Process for Rooting and installing Android 4.0 to your HTC Sensation

Before we get started I am going to summarize the process for how we go from stock phone to a phone running HyperNonSense ( Android 4.0 AOSP )
  1. Root our phone and install ClockWorksMod Recovery
  2. Update Firmware to V3.32
  3. Install 4ext Touch Recovery
  4. Install HyperNonSense v2.4
  5. Install Faux Kernel ( optional )
  6. Install AddOns Package v1.9
  7. Reboot Phone, Setup, and enjoy.

How do I root my Sensation 4G?

First of all you need to determine if your phone is already rooted. Take off your back cover, and pull the battery. Phone turns off. Then put the battery back in. Now hold the Volume Down button and Power button at the same time. Keep holding until the boot loader appears. At the top of the screen it will say either S-OFF, or S-ON. This stands for Security Off, or Security On. If your phone is S-OFF you are already rooted. If it says S-ON then you are not and need to get rooted before going any further.

Getting Root (S-OFF) on Sensation 4G

Use the Rooting Guide at XDA-Developers for the HTC Sensation

Save all the files to the root of your Phone's SD card. NO NOT OPEN THE ZIP FILES!

WARNING Before you Flash

First if you happen to break your phone I am not responsible. You do this at your own risk. Also when you flash a new ROM to your phone, all settings and data ( that is not on your SD card ) will be wiped out. Make sure you have your contacts backed up to your google account, this way when you setup your google account on your new ROM your contacts will automatically be restored.

Don't Expect Support

I have written this guide as detailed as possible, and it should work for most users who are trying to install Android 4.0 on their phones. If you have questions feel free to ask in the comments at the bottom of the page. However please DO NOT ask things like, how do I root my phone, or how do I install this ROM. Also I will not answer questions about how to restore your phone to the factory ROM, or questions about how to install Sense. If you have questions like that I recommend you spend some time on the Sensation 4G forum on XDA-Developers. If this guide is not sufficient, then don't use it. I don't have the time to hold the hand of every noob that can't read and wants instant gratification. Rooting your phone and installing custom ROMs is not complex, and thanks to the great Devs on XDA-Developers, it is a lot easier than it used to be. For those of you who are wondering if rooting your phone is worth it. YES! I am a T-Mobile USA user, so if you have trouble with other carriers I won't be able to help you. I will try to answer most questions and comments that are posted. Positive Feedback is always welcomed.

Updating your Sensation's Firmware

The PG58IMG.ZIP file should be on the root of you microSD card, we can now flash the new Firmware
Please note if you have already flashed the 3.32 Firmware for a previous ROM you can skip this step.
  1. Pull your battery
  2. Put your battery back in
  3. Boot into your Boot Loader ( Hold Volume Down and Power button at the same time til boot loader appears )
  4. Boot Loader will automatically search and find the PG58IMG.zip file. It will prompt you to update, Select Yes
  5. Wait for your phone to finish updating, DO NOT TOUCH THE PHONE TIL ITS FINISHED! When its done it will say "Update Complete", and ask you to reboot your phone. ( DON'T REBOOT )
  6. At this point pull the battery, and remove your microSD card. You will need to delete the PG58IMG.zip file from your microSD card, so your phone doesn't try to flash firmware again. Best way is to use an microSD USB card reader and to delete the file using your computer. Once this file is deleted, put the microSD card back into your phone.

Updating to 4ext Touch Recovery

Before your continue you need to make sure you have the following 2 files on the root of your microSD card. ARHD_Modded_Super_Wipe_Sensation.zip and 4ext_easy_flash.zip

  1. Boot into your Boot Loader Again ( Hold Volume Down and Power button at the same time til boot loader appears )
  2. Select Recovery ( use volume down to navigate and then press your power button to select)
  3. ClockWorkMod will load
  4. install zip from sdcard
  5. choose zip from sdcard
  6. Select ARHD_Modded_Super_Wipe_Sensation.zip
  7. Yes - Install ARHD_Modded_Super_Wipe_Sensation.zip
  8. Wait for Super Wipe to finish ( even though it says Android Revolution, SuperWipe is a utility created by mike1986, and most developers use it before installing a ROM ), When SuperWipe is finished it will reboot your phone, and you will be in ClockWorkMod Main Screen.
  9. Install Zip from SDcard
  10. choose Zip from SDcard
  11. Select 4ext_easy_flash.zip
  12. Yes - 4ext_easy_flash.zip
  13. Wait a few seconds for the Recovery to install
  14. Go back to home menu of ClockWorkMod
  15. Reboot system now

Installing the Main ROM and Addons ( HyperNonSense v2.5 )

Before using this steps you need to make sure you have HyperNonSense_2.5.zip and HyperNonSenseAddons_2.0.zip on the root of your microSD card.

  1. Boot into your Boot Loader Again ( Hold Volume Down and Power button at the same time til boot loader appears )
  2. Select Recovery ( use volume down to navigate and then press your power button to select)
  3. 4ext Touch Recovery will load
  4. install from sdcard
  5. choose zip from sdcard
  6. Select ARHD_Modded_Super_Wipe_Sensation.zip
  7. Yes - Install ARHD_Modded_Super_Wipe_Sensation.zip
  8. Wait for Super Wipe to finish ( even though it says Android Revolution, SuperWipe is a utility created by mike1986, and most developers use it before installing a ROM ), When SuperWipe is finished it will reboot your phone, and you will be in 4ext Touch Recovery Main Screen.
  9. Install from SDcard
  10. choose Zip from SDcard
  11. Select HyperNonSense_2.5.zip
  12. Continue to install - Yes
  13. Wait a few minutes for the ROM to install
  14. Select HyperNonSenseAddons_2.0.zip
  15. Continue to Install - Yes
  16. Check the boxes for the addon apps you want, and hit next
  17. Check the box for the enhanced audio option you want and hit next
  18. check the box for any AOSP Apps you want to Remove and hit install and Delete
  19. click finish
  20. Update the kernel (optional)
  21. hit the back button twice
  22. hit reboot now

Update Guide for Previous users

If you were already running HyperNonSense v1.5 or newer then there is no need to SuperWipe. just flash the ROM then the Addons, and all your settings and downloaded Apps will be preserved. Also you don't need to flash the kernel every time. Just the first time is needed.

Updating to Faux Kernel

Your phone's Kernel tells the software what voltages need to be applied to the hardware. By increasing the Voltages to various components of your phone you can overclock your CPU ( processor ) and GPU ( graphics ). I have also noticed that I get better signal running Faux Kernel, so its possible that the radio voltage is increased as well. The end result is your phone will be much faster. Especially when browsing the web and do anything that requires wireless data ( streaming music or video ). The downfall to overclocking your phone is decreased battery life. However Faux Kernel is intelligent allowing your phone to downclock (undervolt) when not being used, and overclock only when you need it most. This helps to preserve battery. You can adjust the maximum and minimum clock speed to get a better balance of battery and performance. I highly recommend it to all users.

Before continuing make sure you have Pyramid-ICS-sense-005u.zip stored on the root of your microSD card.

  1. Boot into your Boot Loader Again ( Hold Volume Down and Power button at the same time til boot loader appears )
  2. Select Recovery ( use volume down to navigate and then press your power button to select)
  3. 4ext Touch Recovery will load
  4. install from sdcard
  5. choose Zip from SDcard
  6. Select Pyramid-ICS-sense-005u.zip
  7. Continue to install - Yes
  8. Wait a few minutes for the ROM to install
  9. hit the back button twice
  10. hit reboot now

Managing your kernel's clock speed

I recommend the APP FauxClock. this will allow you to set your Minimum and Maximum Clock Speeds. Also be sure to check the set on boot option. I just left mine as is with the Governer ( Intellidemand ). After you have updated your Kernel you can download FauxClock from here. Once you have saved the file ( FauxClock-0.9.apk ) to your microSD card. use the file manager to navigate and run it. This will install the App to your phone. Then run the app and make any settings.

Running Android 4.0 for the first time

The first boot might take a few minutes. It might seem stuck on the logo screen don't worry, just leave the phone alone, and don't touch the phone until your lock screen appears. Once your lock screen appears unlock the phone and customize it the way you want.

Its a good idea to reboot your phone after the intial boot of a new ROM.

Useful Android 4.0 ICS settings

Get Toggles on notification bar ( Data, Wifi, AP, GPS, BT )
Menu > System Settings > Extra Settings > Toggles
Enabled Toggles > Choose the toggles you want displayed, then click close
Brightness Location > Don't Show
Auto Hide Toggles > Uncheck
Toggle Style > Icon Only
Alternate Toggles > Check
back back to homescreen
Swipe down to show the notifications panel
Click on the control button ( top left ) left of the Date
Now your Toggles will display on your notifications panel every time you pull it down

Widget and styling
If you like the look of the HTC sense clock and weather widget, then I recommend you try the free alternative called "Fancy Widget" ( Free on the android Market ). And there are a few other settings I have tweaked such as only displaying APPs in the APP drawer instead of APPs and Widget

Recommended Android APPs

  • CNN
  • K-9 Mail ( best Email client for those with multiple email accounts )
  • Google Chrome Browser
  • Winamp
  • Titanium Backup
  • XDA-Developers
  • Ebay
  • Engadget
  • Remote RDP Lite ( Free Remote Desktop Client )

Android 4.0 screen Shots

With Android 4.0 if you want to take a screen shot just hold the power button and Volume Down button at the same time for a couple seconds. It will automatically capture what your screen is displaying. The screen shots below are what my phone looks like after I configured it.

Paul, quick question on installing the new firmware. First, I too am a T-mobile user, so your instructions will seemingly work for me. After the firmware is installed, you said it will prompt you to reboot. The next paragraph says to pull your battery and remove the sd card. From the time I install the new firmware and pulling the battery, do I in fact follow through with a reboot? I appreciate your time and help.

Hey Paul, Thanks a bunch for a clearly laid out, and well written tutorial. This is what I used to flash my first rom after my first root. Excellent suggestion on the ICS Rom, it's absolutely blowing my mind! I'm going to bookmark and revisit your site. Cheers, Craig in Austin

@Papikev1714
When it prompts you to reboot after flashing the firmware, instead of rebooting, you just pull your battery, then pull the SD card so you can delete the firmware file.  Then put the battery back in and turn the phone on while holding the power and volume down keys to get into the boot loader.  Then load recovery and continue with the steps to flash the ROM.
Hope this helps!

@ Craig,
Glad the tutorial helped.  Feel free to click the social like buttons at the bottom of the page, to help get the word out.  Also links from other sites are always appreciated!

Hello my friend,
thank you for the great job - your guide how to install Android 4 is very clear. I upgraded my phone, i like it but still I have 3 extra questions (full SMS in the bar one the top (I don't like everybody can read if the phone is on the table or someone is using it); Clock and weather widget (is it possible to have the same like it was in my old Androis 2.3.4), and mobile data ON/OFF widget - (I can't find it)). Could you please give me your email and I will send screenshots like it was before in my not upgraded phone? Thank you.
Paul | Feb 17, 2012 1:23 PM
@Darius
Don't know what you could do about the the SMS showing up in the notifications bar.  But this might help.
Open SMS App > Hit menu button > Settings > Scroll Down and uncheck Notifications.

Clock and weather widget if you were running the stock ROM, then you had the HTC Sense clock and weather widget.  You might be able to download the APK ( Android install file ) for this on XDA-Developers.  However I have found that Fancy widget ( available for free on the Market ) can almost mimic that perfectly.  I just happen to be using a different style for my phone. They have another style that looks like the HTC sense version.

To get the toggles displayed on your notifications dropdown do this.
Home Screen > Menu > System Settings > Extra Settings > Toggles >
Select the Toggles you want displayed on the Enabled Toggles section
Then uncheck the Auto Hide Toggles
Then check Alternate Toggles
Toggle Style = Icon Only

Now when you swip down  your notifications panel, at the top left there is a blue icon ( 3 lines with bars through them ) touch that, now your quick toggles will display by default.

I just updated my screen shots showing these toggles ( 2nd photo in the bunch )

Thanks for reading

Darius | Feb 17, 2012 1:51 PM
Thank you for the quick response! I am happy with that.
1) I know this way in SMS settings, but if you uncheck notifications you will not see if someone will write the message to you. Notification bar will be empty (without SMS icon). I am not very good in android.. Before I hade Android  2.3.4. and I could change the showing the FULL message in NOTITHICATION BAR (then you get the SMS, it will be shown all in NOTIFICATION BAR and after you will see just SMS icon) or just SHOWING icon of SMS. But the ICON of SMS was all the time. I would like to have the ICON, but not all the message in NOTIFICATION BAR. Any Ideas? As I remember it was in SYSTEM SETTINGS-> SECURITY (to uncheck one box). Is my englisch understandable?
2) Fancy Widget is actually that I need. Thank you!
3) Thank you for Info about Toggles! It is that I need!
Paul | Feb 17, 2012 2:17 PM
You are going to have to install a different SMS APP.  You might try searching the market to see if there are some other options.  Else if having the HTC Sense SMS App is a must, then you might have to run the Sense version of this rom
Extreme Sensation Blaze™ 2 with Sense 3.6
The download for the sense based ROM is on the first post.

However Any Rom with Sense is not going to be as fast as AOSP.  You can try to search XDA to see if you can find the HTC Sense SMS install APK, however be forewarned that Sense based APPs don't always run nicely on AOSP ROMs.  You can try to install it, and it is locks up your phone you can always just flash the ROM over it to restore everything.
Papikev1714 | Feb 17, 2012 5:29 PM
Paul, if I am already running Blitz 4 and want to install the incremental update to blitz 5, do I need to flash the rom all over again, or can I update to blitz 5 without reflashing the rom? I appreciate your help. Sorry if it is an amateur question. By the way, this new rom is outstanding. Great job on the tutorial.

Paul | Feb 17, 2012 5:44 PM
@Papikev1714
If you already have Blitz 4 installed then you can go straight to
Installing the Blitz 5 Incremental Update On the install guide
Basically....
boot into recovery
Empty Cache
Empty Dalvik Cache
Fix Permissions
Then flash the Blitz 5 incremental Update.
It will go pretty quick. After that reboot the phone and don't touch it until its finished loading.
Darius | Feb 18, 2012 7:53 AM
Paul, thank you for your support and sorry for disturbing with "stupid" questions.
Actually I need the old SMS app. So, I decided to change Blitz 5 to Extreme_Sensation_Blaze_2 (downloded from link provided by you in last your message).
But I still have couple of questions:
1) Do I need to put the 2 files on the root of my phone's microSD card:

1. PG58IMG.zip (should be the same??? which you provide here: You will need to find the firmware that matches your Phone.
For T-Mobile users scroll way down and click on the link next to DOWNLOAD 3.24 Unlocked which is under the T-MOBILE section. As of this writing the link was http://goo.gl/nI6h2 This will cause you to download a file called PG58IMG.zip. This is your new firmware, save it to your desktop, DO NOT OPEN THE ZIP!)
2. Extreme_Sensation_Blaze_2.zip
3. What about Android_Revolution_HD_Super_
Wipe_Sensation.zip? (why don't we need this?)

I understood you don't have a lot of time, but I appreciate your help. I have read a lot of topic's but due to the language barrier didn't understood everything...

P.S. What is the different between Blaze and ROM here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14192842&postcount=4

Which one is better?

Thank you in advance!

Paul | Feb 18, 2012 9:11 AM
@Darius
Those aren't stupid questions.  I had originally written this tutorial for those who were coming from a virgin phone and intalling their first ROM.  But its a little different after you install your first rom and are just switching ROMs.

You only install the firmware (PG58IMG.ZIP) once.  After you have installed the firmware then you can install either blaze, or blitz

The general procedures to installing another Android 4.0 ROM is....
Boot into recovery.
Run the Super Wipe Script
Install the ROM
Reboot.
Do the Setup

The other ROM you mentioned ( Android Revolution ) is also a good ROM, and its more HTC Sense based.  The Dev of that ROM mike1986 is a veteran on XDA, and really knows his stuff.

I haven't personally used his latest Android Revolution, and the reason is I am not a fan of HTC Sense.  I much more prefer the Google AOSP look and feel, or Cyanogenmod ( which is still a work in progress ).

Feel free to flash any ROM on XDA,  just be sure you follow their install guides.  Some require different firmwares, and others need special recovery APPs installed.

If you are just going to move to Blaze 2, then just install superwipe, install your ROM and reboot.
glimps | Feb 18, 2012 10:51 AM
Is it o.k this one for my phone HTC sensation xe s-on but rooted Hboot 1.23.0000
Paul | Feb 18, 2012 11:54 AM
@Glimps
The only difference between the Sensation 4G and the Sensation XE is the CPU on the XE is overclocked to 1.5 Ghz.  They are basically the same Snap Dragon Processor ( Qualcomm MSM8260), and they have the same GPU.  If you were working with an Sensation XL, then its a different CPU, and this guide would not apply.

You should be able to install this ROM just the same for the Sensation XE
However If you are S-ON then YOU ARE NOT ROOTED.  Make sure you achieve S-OFF first before proceeding with the install guide.
Samuel | Feb 19, 2012 12:11 AM
Paul, I just wanna say thanks again for this, you are so passionate in helping ppl installing the rom and I Thank You very much!!!
Darius | Feb 19, 2012 5:24 AM
Hello Paul once again,
I just moved to Extreme Sensation Blaze™ 2 with Sense 3.6
and it's that I need. Thank you!!!
Could you answer several question just for the future if I decided to change something:

1) Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21989107 -is written:
Before flashing
1. Dowload and install the newest version of 4ext recovery TOUCH (v1.0.0.3 RC3)

or HERE:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14192842&postcount=4
You need:
4EXT Touch Recovery from here
How to flash:
Boot your phone in recovery mode (vol down + power). and Nothing about 4EXT...

I have never used it(4EXT ). Is it the same like "Hold volume-down + power button to boot into the bootloader"? It is 2 ways? you can use one of them? isn't it?

2. Make a NANDROID backup of your current ROM. Why do I need backup my old ROM? I will never use it again. Is this step not essential? and you can scip it?

3. Is it any possibility to RENAME apps in HTC Sense? As I understood it was the posibillity to RENAME apps in
Extreme_Sensation_Blitz_5.zip (Google AOSP).

4. HTC Sense and
Google AOSP is something like Windows and Linux? Microsoft office and Open Office? Isn't it?

The question regarding FULL SMS in NOTIFICATION BAR - Settings->Privacy->Message notification preview (should be unchecked). So, it is really just for the HTC Sense...

Thanks again!!!

Hi Paul, I followed your guide and got to flashing blitz 4. When I rebooted my phone now just shows the htc boot screen for a couple seconds then turns off and keeps repeating this. Any ideas why this is happening?
Paul | Feb 20, 2012 1:15 PM
@dustin
Make sure you have Root ( Boot loader shows S-OFF )
Then flash the firmware, ( make sure you are flashing the right firmware ), the one I have listed in the article is for TMobile.
Recovery
Wipe ( very important ! )
Then flash Blitz 4, and allow the phone to boot ( may take a few minutes )
Setup Phone

dustin | Feb 20, 2012 2:22 PM
Hi Paul,
I rooted the phone. I'm unsure if I have the correct firmware, I saw another thread with a user with the same phone/provider using that firmware. I'm on Bell in Canada. I installed the TMobile firmware and then performed the wipe and flashed Blitz 4. After rebooting the phone just keeps booting. I waited approximately 20minutes with it doing the same thing.
Paul | Feb 20, 2012 2:32 PM

@dustin

If you are on Bell in Canada, then the T-Mobile Firmware is probably not the one you want.  I am honestly not sure which firmware from this page would be the one for you.

That page contains instructions for determining the CID and MID of your phone, so you are sure to get a matching firmware that is compatible.

dustin | Feb 20, 2012 4:14 PM
Thanks for your help Paul. This is my first HTC and I'm finding it and HTC Sense very confusing. I'm trying to get back to stock Firmware/ROM so I can check my CID and MID settings. Wish me luck haha.
Papikev1714 | Feb 21, 2012 2:36 PM
Hi Paul, I see that Blitz 6 is out now. Just wondering if the installation is the same as it was for Blitz 5. If I install it the same way (as you instructed earlier above), should it work okay? I am already running Blitz 5 and would like to install the update. Again, your help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Papikev.
Paul | Feb 21, 2012 2:45 PM
I will update my Guide later tonight.
Since this is a full ROM and the developer mentioned that some framework has changed, I would recommend a full wipe, then install the ROM.  You will have to set everything up again.  You don't have to flash the firmware again if you already were using a former version of Blitz.  I will alert everyone tonight once the update to the guide is done.
Papikev1714 | Feb 21, 2012 2:51 PM
Thank you Paul. I appreciate it. I look forward to your guide. Papikev.
Paul | Feb 22, 2012 9:58 AM
Blitz 7 is out. I just updated the install guide.
If you are getting boot loop issues, then that means you flashed the wrong firmware.  Make sure your CID matches the ones listed on the firmware page.

One very nice addition to Blitz 7 is an APP called Adaway.  Just run it once, and you should never have to see those annoying little Ads again.

Also the Developer included ICS Camera with full 1080P support.  Plus you still have the HTC camera too if you prefer that instead.

Rufus | Feb 22, 2012 3:01 PM
First of all I would like thank you for the nice tutorial. I was able to install Android 4.0 on my HTC sensation.

I do have an issue right now. I'm not able to see who's calling on the LOCK screen and not able to pickup the phone call right from the LOCK screen. Could you please guide of how to fix this issue.

Thanks,
Rufus
Paul | Feb 22, 2012 3:15 PM
@Rufus
The caller ID lockscreen bug is a known issue with all Senseless ICS ROMS.  Developers are working on a fix for this.  If the lock screen caller ID feature is a "I am going to Die without it" feature for you, then I recommend you install Blaze 2 ( Sense based Cousin of Blitz 7 ).  That has HTC Sense still in it, and will have the lock screen working correctly.  However just be warned you will drain your battery faster, and the phone won't be as fast.
Hope this helps.
Rufus | Feb 22, 2012 9:35 PM
Paul,
I tried to root my second HTC sensation.

This time I said "NO" to ClockWork Recovery update from Revolution. I applied the clockwork recovery separately. Now when I tried to go into Recovery mode it's not taking me into ClockWork Recovery menu rather it shows with a picture with RED triangle.

Is there any work around to fix this issue? I appreciate your response.

Thanks,
Rufus
Paul | Feb 23, 2012 8:30 AM
Rufus,
Something didn't work correctly when you rooted your phone.

I would recommend trying to reroot your phone using the guide here

When you hold power and volume down does HBOOT come up?  If so does it say S-OFF?
If so then install clockworkmod 5.0.2.0 ( download here ).  Take that file and rename it to PG58IMG.zip, and then put it on the root of your SD card.  Then boot into HBOOT, and allow it to install the clockwork.  Then turn off your phone.  delete that file from your SD card, and put the firmware IMG on your SD card ( different PG58IMG.zip ),  Then boot into HBOOT, and allow it to install the updated firmware.  Then use the rest of guide above.  Hope this helps.
Rufus | Feb 23, 2012 8:55 AM
Paul,
Thanks for your prompt reply.My is S-off. i will follow your instructions.

Tmobile wifi-calling application was working with Blitz 5 but not with Blitz 7. Any advise to fix it.
Thanks,
Rufus
Paul | Feb 23, 2012 9:19 AM
Rufus,
WIFI-calling doesn't work for me either. I have alerted the Developer,  Hopefully he comes up with a fix soon.  Even though it worked on Blitz 5, I didn't find it that stable.  Even when I used to run stock ROMs, I would get a terrible feedback loop with WIFI calling, unless I turned the volume way down.
Darius | Feb 23, 2012 9:55 AM
You can use VIBER from market. Free wifi calling.
Rufus | Feb 23, 2012 2:16 PM
Paul,
I followed the steps to install ClockWork Recovery - I get the following error message. Could you help?

Model ID incorrect!
Update Fail!

Appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Rufus
Paul | Feb 24, 2012 8:04 AM
Rufus,
That tells me you are installing the wrong version of ClockWorkMod.  I recommend you just let the revolutionary app do everything for you, including install clockworkmod.  Then update it later.
Rufus | Feb 24, 2012 9:08 AM

Paul,

It worked.

Thanks,

Rufus

Hi Paul,

 I finally managed to get back to stock firmware and ROM and be able to boot my phone. I'm going to reread your guide and try to do this properly this time! lol

thank u
Paul | Feb 25, 2012 9:13 AM
@cchh
Make sure you install the correct firmware for your device, don't just use the links I provide as that will only work on T-Mobile Sensations
Mike | Feb 25, 2012 7:24 PM
Hi I'm really tempted to install this Rom and Android 4.0, but I have one main question:
(Note: I've already rooted my T-mobile Sensation, have S-Off, and am currently running Android Revolution HD 3.6.13)

1) Is this a legit, Google released version of Android 4.0? If not, if I do install this and a few weeks later T-mobile release ICS, would I be able to uninstall and install their official version without any problems?
CHARBEL | Feb 25, 2012 11:40 PM
HELLO DUDE  THANK U BUT THE PROBLEM WAS I NEVER KNEW MY CID
BUT CHANGE IT TO 11111111 SUPER CID
I WANNA ASK U ABOUT IF WE Can  INSTALL SENSE WITHOUT FLASHING
OR JUST INSTALL FACEBOOK FOR HTC SENSE AND THE WIDGETS
BECAUSE I LIKE THE THEME I WON'T CHANGE IT
IF U HAVE ANY IDEA CAN U PLZ SHARE IT :)
THANK U AGAIN

Is there a way to turm off mail/text LED notifications?

It seems to be draining battery.

Thanks,

Rufus
Paul | Feb 26, 2012 12:20 PM
@Mike
This ROM was not compiled by google.  It does have much of the AOSP ( google source ) plus HTC Sense source, that is needed for certain functions to work.  When you flash a new ROM, nothing would prevent you from flashing your phone back to another ROM, or even a factory ROM ( when Tmobile releases theirs )
Paul | Feb 26, 2012 12:24 PM
@Charbel
Sense is a framework, that heavily modifies the Android OS.  If you want Sense then it is best to install a Sense based ROM, such as Android Revolution. You can always install the Facebook APP from market.  Else if you are looking for some custom ROM that has more HTC Sense than this one you will have to learn to developer your own ROMs ( not easy )
Paul | Feb 26, 2012 12:35 PM
@Rufus
There isn't anyway that I know of to do that.  Eventually Cyanogen will release CM9 ( not the alpha or beta versions ), and this would likely have this feature.  Most of us with AOSP are just waiting for a stable version of CM9 to release.  Until then Developers are doing the best they can to compile their own AOSP ROMs.
Mike | Feb 26, 2012 1:30 PM
Paul ,
     Thanks for the reply. I might actually go ahead and install Senseless Blitz in a few minutes. Just one more thing. Say I don't find the new Rom and 4.0 to my liking, I can just flash an official 2.3 zip to revert back to the Android version I have now, correct?
Paul | Feb 26, 2012 2:28 PM
Honestly Mike I am not sure.  I haven't tried to revert back to 2.3 since upgrading to 4.0.  However I am about to upgrade the install guide telling people to use the 3.30 Firmware and not 3.24.
Mike | Feb 26, 2012 2:46 PM
Paul ,

Hmm, I guess I might wait off on installing 4.0 and Senseless Blitz then and just keep ARHD, Sense and all. Come on T-mobile and roll out ICS already!
Papikev1714 | Feb 26, 2012 3:38 PM
Hi Paul, if I am going to flash the new 3.30 firmware from what I currently have which is 3.24, can I flash just the firmware, or do I need to reflash the rom once again? I am running Senseless Blitz 7. I appreciate your time and help. Papikev.

Mike | Feb 26, 2012 7:29 PM
What happened to Swype? =/
Darius | Feb 27, 2012 1:48 AM
Hello, Paul,
I just now noticed one problem - everytime I restart my phone it is written: "Unfortunately HTC sense has stopped". What happened?
I haven't no problems flashing new ROM. Phone is rooted. SUPER CID is ok.

P.S. Could you please answer my long long question before?
Paul | Feb 27, 2012 9:34 AM
@Mike,
Not sure I never used swip.  The Developer might have taken it out.

@Papikev1714
IF you flash the new firmware you will have to reflash the ROM as well.  Before you do that I highly recommend you download Titanium backup off the Market, so you can backup APPs and settings that might be a pain to setup once you get your ROM reinstalled.  However I would suggest holding off on a reinstall.  Blitz 8 is coming out this week.  Blitz 7 had a few bugs that Blitz 8 is supposed to patch.

@Darius
I would suggest reflashing your ROM, I have never had a message like that from any of the Blitz ROMs.  If you are using something else besides Blitz you will need to ask for support on XDA-Developers under the ROM's thread.  By the way Blaze 3 is out, so you might try flashing that  instead.  Which question did I not Answer?
Darius | Feb 27, 2012 1:30 PM
Hi, once again,
couple of questions I found out by myself.. there are 2 of them left:
1. Is it any possibility to RENAME apps in HTC Sense? For example Calculator, Camera, Flashlight? As I understood it was the posibillity to RENAME apps in Extreme_Sensation_Blitz_5.zip (Google AOSP). or not?
2. HTC Sense and Google AOSP is something like Windows and Linux? Microsoft office and Open Office? Isn't it?

3. And additional problem:
My Sensation shows wrong time in certain HTC clock widget (like Fence Widget in Blitz). But the clock on the right side  of the top is ok. It detects location correctly (my homecity) but shows the time not correct (1 hour after). What the hell?
Papikev1714 | Feb 27, 2012 1:33 PM
Thank you Paul. Again, I appreciate your feedback and support. Looking forward to Blitz 8. Papikev.
Brandon | Feb 27, 2012 2:00 PM
Great guide! I tried one before yours and it was very incomplete. Installed easily. I'm having two issues currently.

1) I cannot connect to Wi-fi. I've tried everything I can think of to connect and I cannot connect to the internet with any apps (browser, market, etc) although the phone says it is connected.

and

2) I was getting 4g connection with 2.3 and now it connects to only 3g. The speed is noticeably slower.

any help would be great thanks!

Paul | Feb 27, 2012 3:57 PM
@Darius
1. I am honestly not sure if its possible to rename APPs,  I would assume that feature might be a general Android 4.0 feature, and not just an AOSP feature, meaning it would be possible under Sense as well.  I would say try out Blaze 3, and let us know if you can.

2. No This is not a windows vs linux type of thing.  Windows and Linux are Operating systems.  Android is a variant of Linux created by Google.  HTC Sense is a set of customizations to the Android OS.  HTC Sense is a framework that overlays on top of Android making it look different.  HTC Sense includes custom libraries that are specific to the hardware ( IE the Camera ), and has APPs that can only be found on HTC devices.  Think of HTC Sense as for of a productivity suite of APPs and Drivers.  Its more Software that runs on Android rather than an OS.

3. Don't know what to tell you for that one, my clock works fine.

@ Brandon
1. Check your router to see what kind of Authentication its running.  You might have to run something basic like WEP or even WPA.  Also I don't believe the Sensation supports the 5Ghz band that some newer routers use.  Make sure your router is broadcasting in both 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz bands if it has it.  I had this problem with my Cisco  Linksys E4200 Wireless Router

2 The 4G is just an Icon.  Your phone probably says H instead of 3G, and H is basically 3.5G or 4G.  There is a mod Zip that will give you the 4G icon back, but this is just for looks and won't affect speed.  I would recommend doing a speed test to verify the phone's speed is actually slower.  You also might try to upgrading to the lastest 3.30 firmware.

Papikev1714 | Feb 27, 2012 5:27 PM
Paul, just want to say that you and the guys at Legendarylegends have done great work on these roms. The instructions and the support is truly second to none. Keep up the great work. Great group of guys.

Thanks, Papikev
Brandon | Feb 27, 2012 7:11 PM
@Paul
I was able to get the wi-fi to work out. I recently had a change in ISP and they changed my SSID and password.

Regarding the 4g, I am getting the H icon instead of the 4g icon  I used to get. I'm ok with the H. The speed got better when I went for a walk outside earlier today. I did use the latest 3.30 firmware as outlined in your guide above, is there another I should be looking for?

I second Papikev1714 's comment. You and your team are excellent at what you do! Keep the great help coming.
-Cheers

Paul, any chance you are going to still update the installation guide once Prime comes out?
Cheers.
Papikev1714 | Mar 4, 2012 7:32 AM
You have a been great about it and I just did not want to assume you were still going to do so is all. Thanks again.
Paul | Mar 4, 2012 12:45 PM

Once Blitz 8, or Prime comes out I WILL BE UPDATING THE GUIDE.
Should be soon as the Sense Version ( Dream ) was released today.

Running Android 4.0 for the first time

The first boot might take a few minutes. It might seem stuck on the HTC logo screen don't worry, just leave the phone alone, and don't touch the phone until its finished loading.

Am stuck here, HTC logo keeps appearing and disappearing on my phone and its not loading pass that for more than 30minutes now. Please help.
Paul | Mar 7, 2012 3:31 PM
Hey Guys,
Just wanted to give you all an update.
I tried the new Prime, and still had some of the same issues Blitz 7 had.  However I have tried another ROM "HyperNonSense v1.2" and it has proven to be flawless. (Though that install process is not straight forward ) I will be revising this guide on how to install that ROM, as I currently feel its the best one available.  I used it for 3 days without any problems.  Prime on the other hand just locked up on me when dialing a number after 16 hours.  I will try to have the guide updated tonight.
Papikev1714 | Mar 7, 2012 3:34 PM
Paul, wondering if you are running Prime now and if so, how do you like it compared to Blitz 7? Thanks. Papikev.
Papikev1714 | Mar 7, 2012 3:50 PM
Great, looking forward to the instructions. I think I'll give it a go. Thanks Paul.
Paul | Mar 7, 2012 6:18 PM
The new install guide is up
I am now running HyperNonSense v1.2  No Bugs, no Issues, just Fast and Smooth.
Make sure you follow the install guide exactly as I have it above.

Papikev1714 | Mar 7, 2012 7:06 PM
Paul, great detailed instructions on the rom. One question though, at what point in the process after plugging in the usb cable, do I disconnect it from the computer. Is that relevent to a successful flash? Thanks, Papikev.
Paul | Mar 7, 2012 7:31 PM
@papikev1714
Great point, Once you delete the Android folder you can unplug the USB cable. I have updated the guide with that step.  You don't need the cable plugged in while it flashes the ROM.

Also the battery life on this ROM is Awesome!
Papikev1714 | Mar 7, 2012 7:35 PM
Thanks for the follow up, I appreciate it. Great news on the battery life. I look forward to this rom! Thanks again.
Papikev1714 | Mar 8, 2012 6:02 PM
Hi Paul, HyperNonSense rom is turning out to be great. I love this rom. Thanks for the great and detailed installation instructions. If and when there are updates to the rom, will you be posting them as well? I appreciate your time and help. Thanks alot.
Michael | Mar 9, 2012 5:54 AM
it doesn't support gmail?
Darius | Mar 9, 2012 2:22 PM
Hello everybody,
I tried out Blaze 3 and would like inform you it is NOT possible to rename APPs. If somebody is interested in this :)
Paul, one additional question:
I put BITHDAY data to my CONTACS. After I synch all data with CALENDAR. Now this BIRTHDAY data is in CALENDAR. But it is just in CALENDAR and REMINDER didn't warn me before 15-20-minutes...12-24 hours...or...Why? Do you follow me?
Thank you.
Paul | Mar 9, 2012 2:28 PM

@Papikev1714

I plan on updating this guide as new releases come out.  I know V1.3 is out now, so when I get a chance I will update the guide.

@Michael

Just download Gmail from the APP Store.

@Darius

That could be an issue with Sense based ROMs.  I also don't use the Calendar so I couldn't help you with that. Try HyperNonSense, It blows away Blaze and Blitz in performance, and stability.

Papikev1714 | Mar 9, 2012 4:48 PM
Paul, thanks for the response. One question concerning HyperNonSense and I do not know if this is even related to the rom, but when I flashed the rom, everything is great and runs very well. However, prior to installing hypernonsense, I had already purchased and was running nova launcher prime. Now it is not working (prime) and a notice comes up saying in short that the android market is reporting an invalid license for Nova Launcher Prime. It suggested uninstalling and reinstalling, which I did but to no effect. I also cleared data on market settings but still does not work. Any suggestions on what might be the issue? By the way, it doesn't affect how I like the rom, as I am loving it. Thanks again for all your help.
Paul | Mar 9, 2012 4:57 PM
Not sure if that has to do with flashing a new ROM or not.  I have never bought an APP before so I am not sure how android Market would respond with new customer ROMs.  Also android market will eventually upgrade to Play ( new branding for the market ).  Glad you like the ROM
Papikev1714 | Mar 9, 2012 6:46 PM
Paul, wanted to follow to let you know that I wrote the developer about the license issue for Nova prime and they sent me a code to type in and it worked, so cool. Thanks man. Cheers.

any help you could give i cant use my phone i tried to back up my old rom when doing that i got stuck in a boot loader so im guessing after following you guid i know have the wrong firmwear so what should i do i need my phone up and running so if you could fix my  problem or help me go back to my origanl stock rom. thanks
Paul | Mar 10, 2012 3:25 PM
@ Greyson
Make sure you install the right firmware for your phone.
If you are with T-mobile then the one I linked directly to will be fine.  Else you need to goto the firmware page and find you right device.  make sure you are flashing 3.32.  Then redownload the ROM and install it.  follow the install guide exactly as written.

If you get stuck in boot loop then either the ROM zip was corrupt ( unlikely ) or you flashed the wrong firmware.  Try a different one til one sticks.
Hope this helps
Paul | Mar 11, 2012 1:13 PM
HyperNonSense V1.4 is out
If you were using V1.3 before then no need to superwipe.
Use the Update Guide above.  All your APPs and settings will be preserved.
Also the new release is running APEX launcher instead of NOVA launcher, so you will have to setup you home screen again, but not big deal.
Also don't forget to flash the v1.4 Patch after flashing the initial ROM.
Enjoy

Hey Paul,
  I installed team win recover instead and everything went good until I when to load and it got stuck in a boot loop. How do I fix this and/or just go back to the beginning to start all over again?
Thank you in advance
Paul | Mar 16, 2012 2:08 AM
@Terry
If you are stuck in boot loop then you probably flashed the wrong firmware.
I have never used team win recover.  I have ClockWorkMod Recovery v5.0.2.0 intalled on my phone.  Try to use that instead.
Terry | Mar 16, 2012 3:05 AM
Hey Paul,
Sorry didn't think I would have this many problems with it. How do I get the recovery system off and the clockworkmod installed instead. Thank you for your help
Terry | Mar 16, 2012 3:56 AM
Hey Paul,
     Thank you very much Paul I got it figured out what the problem was once I got clockwork it was the wrong one. Some good advice to others make sure you go step by step and use the links provided. This will save you lots of time and frustration. I used a different program (that someone else suggested was better) and got hours of frustration and wasted time. Again Paul thank you for your time and such an detailed step by step walk through. I am a complete noob at this and still did it.
Paul | Mar 16, 2012 10:41 AM
@Terry
Glad you got things working.  Thanks for the feedback!
Paul | Mar 16, 2012 12:00 PM
Just updated the Install guide for HyperSenseLess v1.5
If you were running v1.3 or v1.4,  just flash this, no need to SuperWipe before.
All your Apps and Settings will be preserved.

New users be sure to read the install guide.
Brandon | Mar 17, 2012 11:41 AM
@paul,

after a few weeks of using my phone after upgrading to 4.0 everything was great. Today I turned on my phone and I can't access settings at all. I've tried resetting the phone and that didn't work either. Any help would be welcomed.

thanks
Paul | Mar 17, 2012 11:52 AM
@Brandon
I would recommend reflashing your ROM.  Try upgrading to HyperSenseless v1.5  Thus far it has been flawless for me.
Brandon | Mar 17, 2012 1:08 PM
@Paul

Sounds good to me. One problem though I can't get into settings to turn on debugging mode. any suggestions?

Paul | Mar 17, 2012 1:17 PM
@Brandon,
You don't need to turn on Debugging Mode.
Pull the battery, put it back in and boot into bootloader ( Power + Vol Up ), select recovery
then follow the install guide above to install HyperSenseless v1.5.  Do the full install not just the update. IE, you are going to superwipe before installing the ROM.
Hope this helps
Brandon | Mar 17, 2012 1:48 PM
@Paul

when I tried to install the new ROM I got the message saying the installation was aborted. Any ideas what to do?

Paul | Mar 17, 2012 1:57 PM
@Brandon.
Start at the beginning of this install guide.
make sure you are rooted ( S-OFF ), and then install the new firmware 3.32  Also be sure to install the firmware that matches you carrier.  Then Superwipe, and install the new ROM.  Redownload the Zip files, checksum the downloads, to make sure they are not corrupt.  which recovery are you using? what clockworkmod version are you running?
Brandon | Mar 17, 2012 5:48 PM
@Paul

I was able to get it to work. I was using the wrong firmware. It looks and runs great!! Top level work from you once again!

Thanks!
Brandon | Mar 18, 2012 9:58 AM
@Paul,

Everything is working well with the new upgrade. I noticed that I don't have the voice to text function on the keyboard. I looked around in settings and I don't see a way to add it in. Do I need another app to do this?
Paul | Mar 18, 2012 1:31 PM
@Brandon
Another ROM might have that feature, or there could be an ADD ON zip you can flash to give you that feature. You would have to search the HTC Sensation section on the XDA-Developer.com forum to see if one is available.
Brandon | Mar 18, 2012 3:18 PM
@Paul

I was able to find an app called touchpal keypad on the market that has that feature. Its better than the one I had on the previous ICS ROM.
Sadel | Mar 21, 2012 12:14 AM
I am an android newbie and this tutorial has been the most helpful and i would like you commend you on the GREAT job. I am now running HyperNonSenseICS_v1.5 and i love it. its super fast and i have great battery life but 1 quick question. Might be sealy but is there any way to get the face unlock feature on there as well. Looking forward to your response. Thanks
Paul | Mar 21, 2012 10:25 AM
@sadel
Check the Sensation section on XDA-Developers.com  There might be an add on for the feature.  Though I can't guarantee it will work on this ROM, could be a sense based feature.
harsh | Mar 22, 2012 10:23 AM

Papikev1714 | Mar 23, 2012 2:54 PM
Hi Paul, this question might be out of line, so I apologize ahead of time if it is. Due to a career opportunity for Kris of Hypernonsense, that rom is now discontinued as I imagine you are aware of. I, like many others feel that that rom was one of, if not the best out there at this point in time. Clean, fast and stable. I am not sure if you are a dev or not as you have been such a huge help to alot of people, but if you are, is there any chance you would pick up the reigns where he left off? Just curious. One more question, do you know if Sebastions kernel v1.3 would be compatible with HN1.5? I always appreciate your time and feedback.

Thank you, Papikev
Paul | Mar 23, 2012 3:50 PM
@Papikev1714
Honestly I didn't even know that the developer of that ROM had discontinued it because of other opportunities.  Wish him the best of luck.  Unfortunately all my development experience is with HTML, CSS, XML, C#, MySQL, and Flash ( Websites and Applications ). Even though I have wanted to dig into custom ROMs its just not something I have the time to focus on.  I will keep my eye out for good replacement ROM.  Until then I will continue to run HN1.5
Papikev1714 | Mar 29, 2012 5:51 PM
Hi Paul, I am still running HN1.5 and I noticed there is an update for Apex Launcher. I tried updating from the market, but wouldn't let me. An error report comes up saying my order is processing and will be available in a few minutes. Never downloads after that, just closes. Any thoughts or suggestions on what might be the case here? Wasn't sure if it is rom related. Thank you, Papikev.
Paul | Mar 29, 2012 9:16 PM
@Papikev1714
Not sure.  Though I found I have a problem with WIFI hotspot, so I might be trying out another ROM soon.  Prime 5 looks pretty good.  I will keep everyone posted.  Might be switching the guide depending on how Prime 5 runs.
Paul | Mar 31, 2012 7:22 PM
I have been running Prime 5 for a couple days now.  So far so good.  Though since it has so many APPs the come with it, its not as fast as HN 1.5 on the network.  When I say fast, I talking about how quickly it can ping data from various sources.  I am going to talk to the developer about providing a more Bare Bones install package.  I might be updating this install guide for Prime 5 in the near future.
Papikev1714 | Mar 31, 2012 7:37 PM
That's great news. I hope the developer responds to your request at taking a smaller, more lightweight approach. Ever since I started using HN 1.5 I have really appreciated the developers minimalistic approach. Really great rom and even if Prime 5 is good, it might be hard to make the switch, but I'll at least give it a go and see how it works. Thanks for your help in giving support. Papikev.
Peter | Apr 5, 2012 3:37 AM
Thanks, but can't get the WiFi to turn on. Can't select it from the settings or anywhere...it's not highlighted. What to do?
Papikev1714 | Apr 8, 2012 6:58 PM
Hi Paul, it looks like a dev has picked up on continuing the work on HNS. The devs name is spider. Don't know if you have tried it out or not, but if you do, could you give some feedback on what you think? I trust your imput as all the roms you have suggested have been outstanding. It look like he has updated to HNS v1.7. Just curious to see what your thoughts are on it. Thanks again, Papikev.

Hey guys, so I'm currently stuck at the firmware installation step. Whenever I flash my firmware to 3.32, my phone gets stuck in the boot loop. I downloaded the T-Mobile version. Here's my info.
modelid:PG5810000
cidnum:T-MOB010
It says that it's supported in the firmware, but i just can't get it to flash right :(
Guys I really need help. I spent 8 hours trying to flash it, searching the web, trying myself over and over, but nothing is working.
Thank you in advance!
Paul | Apr 9, 2012 11:27 AM
@ituorlovas
After you flash the firmware, you need to immediately boot into recovery, then install the ROM.  Don't try to boot the phone like normal after flashing the firmware it won't work, as the firmware is most likely not compatible with whatever ROM you were running before.

Also just a note to everyone following this blog.
I downloaded HyperSenseless v1.8 last night and installed it.
The old developer has taking a full time job and no longer has time to work on HyperSenseless.  A new developer has stepped in to continue the work on this ROM.

I have only been running V1.8 for about 16 hours now.  So far I can report the following
Much stronger signal, no hesitation when dialing a number
Faster smoother interface

However it lacks a few APPs that most people want ( calculator, Gallery, WIFI router, ect ).  There is an Addons package you can download from the ROM's page and install, but you need 4EXT touch recovery installed to install it.  It wasn't hard to install the different recovery, but definitely not for the noob.

I will give the new developer props, on the clean layout for the specs section for the ROM.  The ROM's page is very easy to read.  For those of you interested in running V1.8

Install steps
SuperWipe,
Then flash the ROM
Then flash the addons package ( have to use 4EXT touch recovery for this part )

I will update this tutorial when I have time for the new ROM

Paul | Apr 9, 2012 3:33 PM
@mike
There is more with the HTC One than just larger screen.
1290 x 720
.5" larger screen
I believe the case is all metal
Case has a flat edge instead of rounded making it easier to hold
Larger default battery
Global version is Quad Core, and not Dual Core
Camera is f2.0 ( better than Sensation ), and will perform better in low light

If you like ROMs with Sense then go for the HTC one.
The only thing that would hold me back is the phone is so new its unlikely to have support for AOSP ROMs, which is much faster than Sense.  It will be several months before developers have cooked up something fast for that one.

If you get it let us know how it works for you.  I would be interested in Non Biased feedback from a real user.

Papikev1714 | Apr 9, 2012 8:06 PM
Thanks Paul for your time and help in updating your tutorial to help those out less familiar with how new roms are installed, me being one. It is appreciated and I look forward to the new rom whenever you have time to update it. Papikev.
Papikev1714 | Apr 13, 2012 6:12 PM
Hi Paul, any chance for the HNSv2.1 update? Just curious. Thanks.
Eric | Apr 13, 2012 6:32 PM
I rooted and romed my sensation4G to Ics 4.0 with sense 3.6.my phone now has a 3g or a H signal what does H stand for?and why does it switch between3g and H?and if I was to factory reset my phone would it go back to the original Rom or would it stay with the new 4.0 Rom I put in it.and would it unroot the phone by factory resetting it. Thanks,Eric
Paul | Apr 13, 2012 7:05 PM
@Papikev1714
yes, I actually updated to HNS V2.1 last night, and its been running great.  I will be updating the install guide soon.  Its a little more tricky since they are using the touch 4ext recovery instead of Clockworksmod.

@Eric
H is basically 3.5G or 4G, its short for HSDPA.  Don't worry you are still getting the same speeds.  If you want to go back to factory you would need to find a factory ROM and flash that.  It shouldn't unroot your device.  Read the guides on XDA developers for more help in this area.
papikev1714 | Apr 13, 2012 7:21 PM
thanks paul. one followup question: are you running it with faux kernel? if so, how do you like the performance? i hear if your not a gamer (which i am not) it is the preferred kernel with this rom. thanks again.
Paul | Apr 13, 2012 7:24 PM
Actually I am just using the Stock Kernel.  I haven't tried messing around with the custom Kernels with this ROM. Though I might give that a try soon.
Eric | Apr 13, 2012 7:33 PM
Thanks,Paul I hate to ask but on my Google search all I can get is the voice recognition one.I like the one that you hand text in whatever that I'm searching.Do you know of any good search engines that I can download out of the market. Thanks,Eric
Paul | Apr 17, 2012 1:34 PM
Guys,
I am currently running HyperNonSense V2.3 with Faux Kernel.  By far the best ROM I have ever used! I will be updating this guide soon with detailed analysis and installation instructions.
harsh | Apr 17, 2012 1:53 PM
@Paul
Great :). I'm still on HNS 1.5 wondering if I really need another ROM as its working great for me. But HNS v2.3 looks worth a try. Thanks a lot for everything.
Greg | Apr 17, 2012 2:12 PM
Hi! paul how are you.I hope all us good.I read in one of your memos that you can purchase an additional 10Gb of web for tethering for $15.00.They usually charge 15.00 a month for tethering.so what my qwestion is that uf I tell t-mobile that I want an additional 10 gb for tethering are they going to want to charge me 15 for tethering and 15 for the 10gb?my sensation is rooted so they cant detect that.please explain.     Greg
Shan | Apr 19, 2012 7:51 AM
Hi Paul,
You're guide was amazing mate.
Just a couple of queries
1) My drag-down bar isn't that same as the one in the screenshots, i haven't got any toggles or a settings button.
2)Does this ROM/Launcher get updated? And if so how do we update it?
3)According to HTC, the Sensation will be receiving an ICS update, when it does happen, how do i downgrade back to honeycomb?
Sorry if any of the questions have stupid answers.
Cheers mate
Shan
Paul | Apr 19, 2012 6:33 PM
@Greg,
I am not sure if the 10GB of data for $15 is still around, as that was several months ago, and Carriers seem to change their plans often.  Basically the Carriers have no way to tell the difference between tethering and regular phone traffic.  They just try to force people to pay for unlocking these features in your ROM.  Don't tell them your are going to use it for tethering, and just say you want the additional $10 GB for $15.  They shouldn't charger you an additional tethering fee.  If your phone is rooted and you have installed a custom ROM, then there is nothing they can do to stop  you from tethering.  I have tethered for years, and never once have they billed me for it, or sent me a warning.

@Shan
1) Toggles has to be enabled from the system settings menu.  The instructions are

Useful Android 4.0 ICS settings

Get Toggles on notification bar ( Data, Wifi, AP, GPS, BT )
Menu > System Settings > Extra Settings > Toggles
Enabled Toggles > Choose the toggles you want displayed, then click close
Brightness Location > Don't Show
Auto Hide Toggles > Uncheck
Toggle Style > Icon Only
Alternate Toggles > Check
back back to homescreen
Swipe down to show the notifications panel
Click on the control button ( top left ) left of the Date
Now your Toggles will display on your notifications panel every time you pull it down

2)  I recommend you install these latest which is HyperNonSense v2.3.  The install process is differently as you have to use 3ext touch recovery.  Eventually I will update this guide with full instructions for installing the updated ROM, just haven't had the time.

3)  If you installed the ROM in this guide, then you already have ICS.  Just keep updating to newer versions of HyperNonSense. It will ALWAYS be faster than some ROM by HTC.
Shan | Apr 19, 2012 11:05 PM
Thanks Paul,
I tried enabling toggles, but when i get to swiping down and clicking on the control button i'm stuck, as i don't have a control button at all.

So just  flash HyperNonSense v2.3 like any other ROM?

Thanks
Paul | Apr 19, 2012 11:13 PM
With Toggles you have to also configure which toggles you want shown, and what style.
When you swip down there is a button top left that you have to hit for the toggles to appear.

You can flash HSN 2.3 with ClockwordMod, but the Addons pack needs 4ext touch recovery.  You might as off install 4ext touch recovery first, then install the ROM and ADDONs.  Read up on the XDA-developers thread for the ROM, there is a link to the 4ext recovery
Paul | Apr 19, 2012 11:40 PM
@mike
LTE is just marketing to make people buy a phone, and is not tied with any specific spectrum band, A phone that is designed for T-Mobile's network will not work on the 3g/4g network of AT&T.  The USA carriers do this on purpose, as it allows them to control their customers, and helps prevent them from switching to another service provider.  All you will get on AT&T is likely Edge speeds ( dialup )
Josh | Apr 20, 2012 1:53 AM
It would be really awesome if you could do a guide taking the sensation from this back to stock out of the box condition. Now there is probably one already out there but you make it so easy.

Old firmware if needed, original revovery, original rom.

Tutorial has been updated for HSN 2.4.  You guys are going to love this ROM. Highly recommend the Faux Kernel as well.

updated firmware before starting. everything went smooth, rebooted got to boot screen(lil android with gears turning) and it wont go any further... any help t-mobile sensation 4g.
Paul | Apr 24, 2012 2:28 AM
@wil
login to recovery and empty your cache and dalvik cache.  then reboot.  It this doesn't work then try reflashing your firmware, then reinstall the ROM.  Let the phone boot up to anroid, then restart into recovery and try installing the Addons.
wil | Apr 24, 2012 9:08 AM
@paul, tried both stuck on same screen.any more suggestions?
Paul | Apr 24, 2012 9:30 AM
Try this.  backup your SD card, then format it.  and reboot with nothing on it.  If that still doesn't work, then I recommend you contact the developer SpIder on XDA-Developers who made the ROM.
wil | Apr 24, 2012 4:30 PM
appreciate the info paul. i finallygot it working.had to use a different firmware version. thanks......
Chris | Apr 27, 2012 3:13 PM
I have rooted and flashed the ROM and when i get to the booting for the first time, it gets to the ANDROID screen and just stays there. i have left my phone alone for hours and it will not advance. what did i do wrong? HTC Sensation.
Paul | Apr 27, 2012 6:19 PM
@ Chris
Make sure you have flashed the updated firmware for your device.
Also make sure you are flashing the RIGHT FIRMWARE.
The stuck at boot issue is almost always tied to flashing the wrong firmware.
The link to the firmware downloads is located at the top of the article.
Wil had the same problem as you.
CHRIS | Apr 28, 2012 12:32 PM
yeah i was reading his post and seen that he did, i was wondering if he could let me know what version he ended up using to get it to work..i have had the same problem with v2.4 and v1.5. I have wiped, formatted and even totally emptied my sdcard with only the files to flash.
Chris | Apr 28, 2012 12:37 PM
Also, how come i cannot find a lot of the earlier versions? i have been looking and looking and keep coming across downloads that have been deleted.

CHris | Apr 29, 2012 5:11 PM
ok so either i must be totally off the deep end or what, but i cannot seem to do anything right. My hboot version is 1.17.1111, i have 4ext touch recovery installed, and now i have absolutely no idea how to check and see what firmware i have installed to see if it is compatible with HNS.  Any help would be greatly appreciated as now my phone is a paperweight and i am stuck in a german airport on my way to afghanistan.  I tried using an earlier version of HNS but it didnt work either. I need help!!!!
Paul | Apr 29, 2012 9:58 PM
@Greg
Sounds like you are running Revolution HD by Mike1986.  That ROM is based on Sense, and therefore will not feel any faster than a stock ROM.  IF you want speed you have to give up Sense and get a ROM with AOSP such as the one this guide is written for.

@Chris
Just flash the newest firmware that is designed for your carrier.  This is where you are getting things wrong.  Plus your HBOOT version looks a little old, as I am running HBOOT 1.27.1100.  Might try to update your HBOOT version first, then update your firmware, then the ROM.
chris | Apr 29, 2012 10:39 PM
@paul - this is where i am getting confused as well. I am trying to get some direction as to how to update my HBOOT because i know its outdated but i cannot seem to find anywhere to tell me how to do it. I have the right firmware, i have downloaded it 5 times. Also anytime i go into bootloader, it always runs the PG581000 file. Either i am totally retarded, which i really feel right now or should just go back to the jailbreaking iphones. everyone keeps saying update firmware, update firmware, make sure you have right firmware.....i am assuming the firmware they are talking about it HNS.
Paul | Apr 29, 2012 10:53 PM
@Chris
With the Firmware file on the root of your SD card you boot the phone into bootloader.
It will prompt you to install the firmware, go through the steps.
Then turn the phone off, take the SD card out of your phone, and using a computer delete the firmware file ( PG58xxx whatever ).

Then put the ROM on the root of your SD card and boot into bootloader, then select recovery. Then install the ROM from recovery.

If the Bootloader version is causing your problems I recommend you use the following guide to get you up to the proper bootloader version. This might be the long way of doing it, but at least it will get there.

Try this Rooting Guide, Start at the beginning, by the end you should have HBOOT 1.27.1100.  Then you can flash whatever ROM you want.

Glad you like the ROM.
The weather / clock widget is called "Fancy Widget". Its free on the Android Market.
They have a few different styles to choose from for the layout.

Hello,
could you please help me?

Couple days ago my friend (in Afghanistan) made all the steps from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300 and after he UNLOCKed the phone.

This evening (in LITHUANIA) we tried to flash newest Android 4.0.3. for my friend from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14192842#post14192842

1st step - Updating your Sensation's Firmware it was OK.

2nd step: " Updating to 4ext Touch Recovery

  1. Boot into your Boot Loader Again ( Hold Volume Down and Power button at the same time til boot loader appears )
  2. Select Recovery ( use volume down to navigate and then press your power button to select)"
Then we selected RECOVERY  exclamation mark in the triangle appers in the black screen and it finished. Nothing happens... then we tried to pull out the battery and after to turn on the phone - it tries to turn, but the HTC sound sounds.. after it tries one more time.. htc sound sounds and etc...
We didn't make any back up.
We use HTC sensation 4G Tmobile.
Do you have any solution?
Thank you...

Paul | May 2, 2012 2:48 PM
@Darius
Sounds like your phone doesn't have the clockworkMod recovery installed.  Search on XDA for how to install the clockworkmod recovery.  AFter that you can use clockworkmod to flash the 4ext touch recovery.

@Siavash
No clue what would cause that.  You might try doing a full wipe then reinstalling the ROM again.

@Jason
Installing a custom ROM is not that simple.  Phone needs to be rooted first. then a recovery needs to be installed ( if rooting didn't arlready add this ), then you need to update recovery to 4ext touch recovery, then you use that recovery to flash the rom (zip file).

@Greg
This ROM is better than Reverted AOSP.  It uses updated Libraries, and better support for Kernels.  This ROM HyperNonSense is an AOSP ROM but has a few Sense things ( camera ) that are better than their AOSP counter parts.   There is also HyperSensation which is an AOKP ROM ( like AOSP but uses the Open Kang Project instead as a base ).  All these ROMs are great.  I have since moved to HyperSensation, which is fast and great battery life, but lacks the Sense Camera which kind of sucks.
Greg | May 2, 2012 3:03 PM
Thanks paul I appreciate all your help answering my qwestions.so your runnig Ics 4.0 hypersensation.where did you get the cudtom rom download at?  Greg
Paul | May 2, 2012 3:06 PM
I am currently running HyperSensation V1.5 with Faux Kernel.
You can learn more and download it from here
Jason | May 2, 2012 3:07 PM
Hey I was told that I can update my radio for better signal.and to can you go into the setting and toggle the network speed that your phone receives?
Jason | May 2, 2012 3:28 PM
 Hi! Paul.I have root and I have recovery and I already have 4ext touch recovery on my sensation from the last rom I had on here.so basically I can put a custom rom that I want to install on a sd card put the sd card in my sensation and then hold down volume and power and then select reboot or recoverybon the 4ext screen?    Jason
Paul | May 2, 2012 3:31 PM
@ Jason
Yes if you already have root, and 4ext touch recovery, then yes that would work to install a new ROM
Jason | May 2, 2012 3:37 PM
So would I first install the sd card with rom on it or first boot the phone into bootloader.would you explain the process please.I greatly appreciate it.
Paul | May 2, 2012 4:00 PM
@Jason
Put ROM( zip file ) on Root of SD card, ( use a computer )
Put SD into phone ( phone is off )
Turn phone on ( boot into boot loader )
Goto Recovery
Install the Zip

OR

Turn phone on ( boot into boot loader )
Goto Recovery
Put phone into USB storage mode while connected to your computer
Drag the ROM ( zip file ) to the USB storage device
close USB storage mode
Install the Zip

Jason | May 2, 2012 4:09 PM
 So the first dont need a computer once the rom is installed on the sd card correct?   jason
Paul | May 2, 2012 4:12 PM
Jason, Yes correct.
The only thing you need the computer for is when you are initially rooting the phone.  Other than that you don't need it.
Jason | May 2, 2012 4:19 PM
 One last thing I have a custom rombon my sensation right now can I just install the new custom rom on top of the old rom or do I havevto remove the old rom from my sensation before I can install a new rom on my phone.If I do how do I do that.   jason
Paul | May 2, 2012 4:24 PM
@Jason
If you are installing a new ROM and are already running a different ROM, then you want to do a full wipe ( format everything except SD card ), then install the ROM.  Else if the ROM is an upgrade from a pervious version.  Example you are running v1.4, and the developer releaseses v1.5, then usually you don't need to wipe, and just install the ROM over top of the current one.  Read the developers thread on XDA for installation proceedures.  Sometimes they upgrade the base, between versions and therefore a super wipe would be required. They would state this on the ROM's page
Jason | May 2, 2012 4:35 PM
 yes its a completely different rom.could you rxplain how to do a full wipe.  jason
Jason | May 2, 2012 11:17 PM
 would you please explain how to do a full wipe for I can install another custom rom on my sensation.   Jason
Paul | May 3, 2012 11:55 AM
@Jason,
get into 4ext touch recovery
Wipe | Format
Wipe Data/factory reset
Wipe cache / dalvik
Wipe Battery Stats
format all particians ( except SDcard )

Some of those might be redundant, but it will get the job done of a Full Wipe

Then after that is done, install your ROM

Jason | May 3, 2012 2:30 PM
 thank you so much paul.Your the best. takecare

I have updated everything for HNS v2.5 and addons 2.0.  The download links have been updated and should work fine.

@Greg,
Read my comment 5 posts ago.
Greg | May 3, 2012 11:43 PM
 hi! Paul. In your own opinion you have ran hypernonse and hypersensation between the to roms which one would you say is faster and which one gives you longer battery life and is the gain that noticable.    Greg
Greg | May 4, 2012 1:20 AM
 Paul is there a updated version of the hypernonsense rom that I listed on may 1st.If there is could you list the dowmloads for I can download it and install the rom on my sensation.    Greg
Paul | May 4, 2012 12:07 PM
@ Greg
The two ROMs are pretty equal in speed.  Though HyperSensation is giving me much better battery life.  I switched to HyperSensation because I was getting dialer freeze ups with HyperSenseLess.  This only happend once a day, but it was enough to make me want to switch ROMs.  I am still testing HyperSensation to see if I come across any other issues.

HyperNoneSense is only up to v2.5 right now. I have updated all the links in this guide for that version.  The Developer seems to be more focused on HyperSensation right now.
Greg | May 4, 2012 12:28 PM
 so the hypernonsense that I have listed on may 1st is that version v 2.5? I havent had any problems with it yet but I have only been running it for 4 days.please let me know from the post that I listed may 1st if im running v2.5 o.k. Greg
Paul | May 4, 2012 12:34 PM
@Greg
I recommend you directly view the threads for each ROM.
HyperNonSense on XDA
HyperSensation on XDA

I don't have the time to keep this blog up to date on the latest from XDA.
If you are becoming a true ROM addict then I recommend you just ask your questions on XDA.
Greg | May 4, 2012 12:40 PM
 O.k. thanks...   takecare!!!
chris | May 4, 2012 2:41 PM
ok i must really be an idiot, cuz i read the thread you posted and still cannot get my hboot to upgrade from 1.17.1111 to anything. it wont even give me any upgrade option and when i try to install from recovery, all i get is installation aborted. the only ROM i have been successful in installing is CM9 v0.02 but there are alot of bugs with that thing...front facing camera not working, video recording not working, FC's alot of my apps as soon as i open them or attempt to do something in them. HELP!!!!

 Hi! paul. I made a couple calls today and I could hear so echoing in the background.have you ever had such a problem when you were running hypernonsense.   Greg
Paul | May 5, 2012 11:32 AM
@ Greg
I found that image on Google Image Search, then I tinted it with Adobe Fireworks, and resized it to fit my display (954 x 954).  Just google for computer Art, or abstract art, and you will find a ton of stuff.  Also google for Cell Phone Backgrounds

About the echo thing, I had that problem before with some other roms.  If other people were hearing the echo, then you need to turn your volume down, as its creating feedback.  If you are hearing an echo then the person on the other end needs to turn their volume down.  Seemed to happen a lot with WIFI calling, so I don't use that anymore.
Paul | May 5, 2012 12:04 PM
@Chris
I found the updates for HBOOT on this thread
check the first post they have downloads for 1.27 and 1.23

Seems the members on that thread recommend upgrading to 1.23 HBOOT first, then flash 3.32 firmware, then upgrade to 1.27 HBOOT, then flash your ROM.
Hope this helps
Chris | May 5, 2012 4:08 PM
@Paul
You have got to be the most patient person I have dealt with. Thanks to you I finally got HNS 2.0 up and running. I was beginning to just give up and get everything back to stock and just deal with it. Thank you for all your guidance.
Greg | May 5, 2012 5:43 PM
 Thanks again for responding to my qwestions.Hey when Jellybean 5.0 comes out do you think that you will be putting up a barebone stock rom for that.and have you had a chance to check out t-mobiles new htc one android phone.Do you plan on upgrading your sensation anytime soon.They wont have any good roms out for the new hyc one out for like probably a good 6month correct.   Greg
Paul | May 5, 2012 5:53 PM
@Chris
Thanks

@Greg
I haven't even looked into JellyBean yet.  But I am sure once it does, developers will start making ROMs with it.  Keep in mind I don't make ROMs, I just use them.  Even though the HTC one looks very nice, specs wise, I am waiting on T-Mobile to come out with something more like the NOTE with a 5.3" display.  Its extremely disappointing that HTC seems to think that 4.3" are good enough.  Even though I like my Sensation, I don't like the curves of the body.  I would rather have a hard edge as its easier to hold onto ( like my old HD2 ).  If I could have a device with a 5.3" screen and a physical slide out keyboard with a 5 row qwerty, and a decent camera I would jump on it.
chris | May 5, 2012 5:54 PM
That should have said 2.5 not 2.0
Greg | May 5, 2012 6:04 PM
 whats your input on samsung phones.may 17th t-mobile is releasing a samsung Galaxy s 3 with a 4.7 inch screen.Is it true that its alot harder to root and rom a samsung phone.   Greg
Paul | May 5, 2012 6:22 PM
the GS3 looks nice, but it might take developers a little longer to root as unlike all HTC phones which come with an unlocked bootloader, samsung still prefers to keep their phone's locked down.  Its quad core, which is nice, but the camera is the same as the GS2, and its got a pebble like form factor that in my opinion is harder to grip.  In my opinion neither phone is a big enough step to upgrade from the sensation.  Like I said before all I need is an Galaxy Note with a physical keyboard and I will be happy for years to come.
Greg | May 5, 2012 6:42 PM
 so basically your dint like touch screen phones much you would rather gave a keyboard.on notebook you can inly communicate through skype or text or e-mail correct.I'm hoping by the end of this yr t-mobile will come out with at least to more good htc phones.I would like a 4.7 or bigger screen.   Greg
Greg | May 5, 2012 7:01 PM
 Hi! Paul I lowered down my volume and now I have no ecoing.I want to thank you for introducing me to this faboulous rom and for all the help my friend.   Greg
Greg | May 5, 2012 9:33 PM
 paul is a peson was only getting edge or 2G downloading speeds would that be like a 1 to 1,5 mbps downloading speeds or would it be slower.    Greg
Paul | May 5, 2012 9:50 PM
Not even close
Edge (2G) tops out just under 60 Kbit. ( which is like dialup )
There is Evolved Edge that goes to 1 Mbit, but none of the networks ever implimented it.  All networks just made the the move to 3G instead which various from 284 Kbits - 2Mbits.  4G LTE can reach in upwards of 20Mbits however typically you don't get those kinds of speeds unless you are right next to the tower.

harsh | May 6, 2012 10:57 AM
Hi Paul, I upgraded from HNS 1.5 to 2.5. It worked well, but my status bar has all white icons. Do you know how can I change it back to blue?
Greg | May 6, 2012 12:36 PM
Hi! paul.I heard that in 2013 t-mobile is going to start rolling out with 4G Lte.Do you think that t-mobile will ever get as good as coverage as verizon or download speeds.   Greg
Jason | May 6, 2012 1:55 PM
 paul I just wanted to tell you thst I love hypernonsense.Do you have your sensation overclocked at all?If you do how much is your phone overclocked.and what overclocking tool are you using out of the market.    Jason
Jason | May 6, 2012 4:15 PM
 Would I see a noticeable change in downloading speeds if I was to overclock my cpu to a 1.5? Are should I just leave it ser at stock 1.2.  Jason
Paul | May 6, 2012 8:29 PM
@Harsh
The white icons are part of the theme with v2.5.  Hopefully they update the addons to bring back the blue, nothing you can do about it for now.

@Greg
Verizon will always be bigger with better coverage.  But you also pay twice as much for this service.  They have 3G in areas most carriers barely provide 2G support.  T-Mobile works for me, as I almost always within their 3G/4G coverage areas.  Verizon's speed won't be much faster than other carriers but they will provide coverage in areas that nobody else does.  I have considered switching to Verizon, but luckily the latest Phones from T-Mobile seem to get better signal than older models.

@Jason
Actually I am currently using HyperSensation v1.5.  This is an AOKP ROM which comes with built in overclocking.  On the system menu it has a section called ROM control which allows you to control the CPU max and min.  I have min set to the defaults which are 192Mhz - 1.5Mhz.  Phone runs great, and has better battery life than with HyperSenseless.  I also feel like the data connections are faster with less latency.  HyperSensation is made by the same buy who made HyperSenseLess. I highly recommend it for power users.  Though keep in mind its very bare bones.  Not even a selection of ring tones to choose from.
harsh | May 6, 2012 9:17 PM
Thanks Paul. I actually went through the forum for Hypernonsense. Looks like 'SpIder' is very  fond of black and white theme. After playing around for a while, now black and while feels like a welcome change to me :). I just upgraded to Hypernonsense 2.5 from 1.5 yesterday and now you are talking about HyperSensation :(. Can you explain in a bit how is it different from Hypernonsense?

Also, I would like to show you a screenshot of my current setup :). http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7212/7150880097_188aec1475.jpg
Jason | May 6, 2012 10:09 PM
 Hi! paul.will you please keep us posted on hear if a higher version hypersensation comes out.and also if you happen find and even better rom than the hypersensation.   Jason
Jason | May 6, 2012 10:58 PM
 Paul I was wondering when you do a speedtest using the speedtest.net app from the market what kind of down and uploading speeds do you usually average with the hypersensatiin rom.   Jason
Paul | May 7, 2012 8:19 AM
@Jason
If a better ROM comes out I will definitely give it a try.  I personally have been waiting for CM9 to release.

Speed test Results
Computer on WIFI
52.1 Mbits Down
11.9 Mbits Up

Sensation on WIFI
15.8 Mbits Down
4.8 Mbits Up

Sensation on 3G/4G from House
6.4 Mbits Down
1.5 Mbits Up

I will also do a test later today when I hit the gym.
The 24 hour fitness I work out at is right next to the tower, and I always get excellent speeds there.
Matt | May 7, 2012 11:22 AM
Great guide Paul! Thanks so much! Quick question though. After flashing the ROM, I noticed my clock/battery level/ service level are actually colored white instead of blue like normally shown in ICS. Is there anything I can do about this?
Greg | May 7, 2012 4:37 PM
 I really like your screen shot paul awesome.paul can a micro sd card be erased?I have a 2Gig sd card with some pics on it that I dont want anymore.can I just download a rom on top of the pics on the sd card or do I need to erase them first.   Greg
Jason | May 8, 2012 1:58 PM
 nice speedtest no.s paul.yeah once cm9 releases and you say its good thats all I need to hear and I will probably try it out.I have been running hypernonsense for a week and so far its awesome.   Jason
Jason | May 8, 2012 2:10 PM
 paul how do I find out where t-mobiles towers are located at for I can figure out how far I live from a tower and when Im out running errands for I know where towers are at for I can see what king of speedtest speeds I get when Im close to a tower.    Jason
Greg | May 8, 2012 3:17 PM
 paul does hypernonsense have built in overclocking?I downloaded the app from the market called cpu set.I have it set at min 192 max 1296.should I leave it there or should I overclock it higher than 1296 mhz max?and also you how when you go into settings and go into hardware to check your processor speeds theres no hardware setting at all.why is that.  Greg
harsh | May 8, 2012 10:50 PM
@Matt - you can try installing default theme from the HyperNonSense xda thread. See this post -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25842855&postcount=1091

I would have tried this but now I'm kind of liking this change of colors :).

 Hi! paul.I wanted to know do install touch 4 ext recovery after I root a phone?Does it give you a option to download touch 4 ext right after root on the phonebis complete.could you explain alittle bit how that all works.   Jason
Ricardo | May 9, 2012 11:24 AM
Hi.

Thanks for the tutorial, i got a few questions first, my Sensation 4G is american tmobile and is sim unlock at the moment, i am using it in spain with orange so i dont really know what firmware to get, i need it to remain unlock.

I am new using android and i have an iphone 4, so far i wonder why people still wanna get an iphone... i ask this same thing through out many iphone forums and is hard coz Apple cant do nothing without itunes and everything has to be check online firt with Apple before you could do anything to your idevice, SO could it be easy to get either the HTC oficial ROM or operator ROM with all the crap they install on top of the OS, ROOT the device, remove everything like all the T-mobile crap, HTC SENCE and then make a full image of the entire device and share that image with everybody?.
After that all it needs to do is root the device and restore to that image and everything should be working just fine?...

i havent play around with my HTC yet coz i kill my iphone so i dont have a back phone for just in case i do something to the HTC and i get stock without phone.

Apart it all, i could not appreciate all the time people has put into this.

Thanks...

 Hi! paul last tuesday I installed hypernonsense on my sensation and its been running great.anyways today was the first time that I tried using my sensation as a hotspot since I installed the and it will not connect.on my laptop screen it says the network security key provided does not match.please re-enter the network security key for htc portable hotspot.Its always been just the default code 1234567890.I have entered it like 5 times and it still wont let me in.Do you know how I can figure out what the code is?I have never changed it. I would really appreciate any help.   Jason
Jason | May 9, 2012 6:10 PM
 paul if I reset my phone would that fix the problem?I use my sensation inorder to connect my laptop to the internet.whenI turn on the hotspot on my sensation and then go to my computer screen I see htc hot spot and I click on it and then it asks for the code which is 1234567890 because I never changed it so I dont know why it wont take it.can t-mobile do a master reset.Ever since I put hypernonsense on my sensation it started asking me for the code againI really appreciate any help.   Jason
Paul | May 9, 2012 6:52 PM
@Jason
I just switched from HyperSenseless to HyperSensation, and my WIFI hotspot is working great.  I recommend you boot into recovery, clear dalvik cache, then reboot.  IF that doesn't work then reflash the ROM over the top of your current one.  You might try switching to HyperSensation instead.  Its on the XDA-forum for the Sensation.  Install is similar to HyperSenseless, plus it has overclocking built in, so no need to install a separate APP.
Jason | May 9, 2012 7:07 PM
 Hi! Paul thanks for that info.my friend said that you can go into the setting and it will show me what my default code.I couldnt find anything in the settings.Do you know what he talking about?If you do know what hes talking about could you please explain.    Jason
Paul | May 9, 2012 7:26 PM
@Greg,
No HyperNonSense does not have overclocking built in.  I recommend you switch to HyperSensation which does.  However even after installing hypersensation you still need to flash FAUX kernel.  ( just make sure you install the one for AOSP, and not sense ).

@Jason
I am not sure what he is talking about with default under settings.  Sounds to me like you need to reset your hotspot password. If that doesn't work then reflash your ROM.

Else switch to HyperSensation
harsh | May 9, 2012 7:36 PM
Hi Paul, what differences do you see between HyperNonSense and HyperSensation? And why will you prefer one over another?
Jason | May 9, 2012 7:41 PM
How do I reset my hotspot password?Do I do a master reset on my sensation.   Jason
Paul | May 9, 2012 7:46 PM
HyperSensation is smaller, and faster.  More Bare bones, allowing me to only install what I want on it.  Better battery life too.

Put it this way,  I got hte following quadrant benchmarks
HyperSenseLess, 2600
HyperSensation, 3400
And this is after already loading up the phone with all my favorite Apps.

The only negative with HyperSensation is the videos won't play in the gallery, hopefully they fix this with the next update.
Jason | May 9, 2012 8:10 PM
 If I do phone master reset will that reset my hotspot password.   Jason
Greg | May 9, 2012 8:41 PM
 I seen last blog that with the hypersensation rom is that videos wont play in Gallery.Does that mean that netflix dont work?could you explain a little more.  Greg
harsh | May 9, 2012 8:48 PM
Thanks Paul :). Sounds great. I'll try HyperSensation once I start getting bored with my new ROM.
Greg | May 11, 2012 7:27 PM
 Hi! paul I put hypersensation on today and Im loving it.My fastest downloading speeds is as of now 8.90 2.75 upload.I have a qwestion what web browser are you using.and also on top of the page you have a pic of a yellow e-mail box is that for gmail.what was it listed under in google play.   thanks and Godbless my friend.   Jay
harsh | May 12, 2012 12:19 AM
Hi Paul, I just installed bricked kernel. Looks quite good. My quadrant benchmark now shows 3600, It was 2300 with stock kernel.Will see how much it will impact battery life and performance. I'm on currently on Hypernonsense 2.5 ROM.
Jay | May 12, 2012 1:33 PM
 Hi! paul could you explain the difference between a faux and bricked kernel.and which kernel do you prefer and why?   Jay
Jay | May 12, 2012 5:28 PM
 Paul what web browser are you currently using witn hypersensation.and are you using a faux kernel.    Jay
Paul | May 12, 2012 7:22 PM
@Jason
It should, but you also should be able to manually set the password you want to use.

@Greg
Netflix still works just fine, Its just the gallery won't play any videos, there is another App I believe called MX player that will play videos just fine.  Also I am using the Google Chrome Beta Browser.  I have found its the fastest and most responsive.

@Harsh
I haven't tried bricked kernel, but I have heard great things about it. I am just using FAUX kernel, because the developer who made the HyperSensation ROM recommended it.

@ Jay
Not sure you would have to read more about them on XDA.  Also I am using FAUX Kernel. Max 1620 Min 192.  I will eventualy move up to see if I can push it further. Battery life so far is excellent. Also I am using Google Chrome Beta for the browser
harsh | May 12, 2012 10:26 PM
Yes, that's why I decided to try it. Bricked kernel is not recommended for AOSP roms, so probably it won't work with Hypersensation.
Jay | May 12, 2012 11:18 PM
 Thanks paul and harsh on the info
I appreciate it.  p.s. paul if you try a bricked or a different kernel than a faux one with hypersensation pleade let me know how it worksout.   Jay
Greg | May 13, 2012 12:00 AM

Paul, did you try using Dolphin browser? I thing Google Chrome still has some way to go. Dolphin has been there for a while and I think its better than others out there.
Greg | May 13, 2012 1:05 PM
 Hi! paul. Hey on your hypersensation you know how it has built in over and under clocking do you have your set at 192 mhz to 1.5 ghz?If I was to set my max at 1.296 ghz would there be a noticeable gain in more battery life.and would I lose alot of downloading speed by down clocking it.   Greg
Jason | May 13, 2012 2:25 PM
 Hi! paul.I have a qwestion once I download a rom on my laptop how do I get the rom onto my sd card?for instance dont I put my sd card into that adaptor that it slides into and then slide my sd card into the slot in front of my laptop?If thats correct how do I get my downloaded rom onto my sd card.and if I have a 2 gig sd card with some pictures on it can I put the downloaded rom right on top of whatever thats on my sd card that I dont want?are do I need to clear the sd card first and how is that done.   Jason
Greg | May 13, 2012 3:02 PM
 Paul once I download a rom on my laptop how do I get it onto my sd card?Do I slide my sd card in the front of my laptop.Is so how do I transfer the downloaded rom to my sd card.Do I flash it on?If yes how is that done.and can I download a rom on a sd card that has stuff on my sd card that I dont want or do I need to clean off the sd card first.how is that done.    Jay

Greg | May 14, 2012 9:45 PM
 Hi! Do you know if the sensation 4G and the sensation xl both use the same battery.   Greg
Jason | May 15, 2012 2:04 AM
Paul I purchaded some 2450 mah batteries for my sensation 4G and my phone lasts 1.5 days off once charge and thats with alot of web browsing,etc.Batteries only cost $7 dollars.   Jason
Ron | May 15, 2012 8:39 AM
  I was curious do you use a viruse protection on your sensation and which one.   ron
Greg | May 15, 2012 3:58 PM
 Hi! paul when you said eventually you will push yiu sensation hard what did you have in mind.a different kernel,rom,etc.Because I up to pushing my sensation harder as well.   Greg
Greg | May 16, 2012 5:02 PM
 Hi! paul I would just like to say thst I have been running hypersensation v1.5 for little over a week now and its just phenomenal.I couldnt ask for a better rom my friend.In the future if you come across more outstanding roms like this one please post them on your wonderful site.  takecare,Greg
Paul | May 17, 2012 11:35 AM
Sorry for the delay in responding,  work has kept me busy.

@Jason
I believe the Revolutionary program only works on Windows to root your phone.  I recommend you spend some more time on XDA-Developer learning out the entire process. The battery in the Sensation also works in the 4G Slide. I suspect they use the same battery in many other HTC phones too.  I bought 4 generic batteries 1800mAh off ebay a long time ago. They have been great.  I keep a few in my car and my gym bag as backups.  I might try the 2450 ones next.

@Greg
When I say push it hard I mean overclocking it to the max, and testing to see if things stay stable.  Since at the molecular level no 2 phones are a like, some phones can be overclocked pretty far, while others can not.  I have had no problems running at 1728 Mhz.  I have switched ROMS again. I am now running CyanogenMod 9.  They currently are releasing Nightlies which means they are getting close to a Stable release.  I then installed FAUX kernel with it, and overclocked it to 1728.  I am getting 3600+ in quandrant benchmark.  The only negative to FAUX kernel is you won't be able to record video in Cyanogenmod.  Once they stable release for CM9 comes out, I will not be switching ROMs anymore.  They are pretty much the gold standard for custom ROMs.  I highly recommend everyone try Cyanogemmod  Excellent battery life, performance, and they have built in overclocking, though you have to install a Kernel to take advantage of it.

@Ron
No I don't use virus protection on my phone, or my computer.  Just robs it of performance.

@Harsh
I haven't tried Dolphin Browser.  Chrome works great for me.  I know its still Beta, but I haven't had any issues
Greg | May 17, 2012 11:47 AM
 Hi! paul.I have been running hypersensation for a week now.out of the blue 2hrs ago.my phone was on charging and when it finished I slide the unlock screen to get in my phone and sll I got was a black screen.I have took out the battery turnrd it back on,rebootrd it and still thr samething.I flashed across the screen 3 times saying that that the iu is not responding.Do you know what that means and how to fix this problem.  Greg
Greg | May 17, 2012 12:04 PM
 Do I need to do a full wipe and reinstall the rom again?   Greg
Paul | May 17, 2012 12:08 PM
Empty your Dalvik cache, and reboot the phone,  If the probelm is the same, then reflash the ROM.
Greg | May 17, 2012 12:11 PM
 When a stable rom comes out for cyanogemmod wiuld you please list it on your site.well Im going to go abd try to get my sebsation working again.   Greg
Greg | May 17, 2012 12:15 PM
 So hold the volume down and power button?and then I go into recovery and wipe it and then hit reboot?Is that the right way?   Greg
Greg | May 17, 2012 10:18 PM
 Hi paul. The weirdiest thing I was using my sensation as a hotspot and I got a message from t-mobile saying to add the tethering or I could lose all my tethering availabilties.How weird my phone is rooted and romed and I only use tethering once or twice a month for like 10 minutes each time.what do you supposed happened..   Greg
Paul | May 17, 2012 10:28 PM
Not sure.  I would recommend searching the T-Mobile forums and getting feedback from other users.  I personally wouldn't listen to them, and would keep tethering.  Data is data.  They could turn off your data but I don't believe they could just disable tethering as that is controlled at the hardware level and not the network level.
Greg | May 17, 2012 10:37 PM
 controlled at the hardware level meaning my device correct?Hey I did what you said with hypersensation but it wouldn't work.It just froze up on me so now I'm running stock Ics 4.0 w sense it sucks but at least my phone works.Yeah that tethering message was so strange it never happened before.I appreciate all your knowledge Paul. you takecare!!!
Greg | May 18, 2012 1:50 AM
 Hi! Paul. Hey my quadurant bench test is 2912.Is that good or bad in your own opinion?and what exactly is a quadurant bench test completely testing my phone for?   Greg
Greg | May 18, 2012 8:22 AM
 I just ran quadurant bench test right now and it was 3685.That's pretty damn fast isn't it?I'm using the same quadurant bench test program that I seen on your site as one as your programs out of Google play.and the closest t-mobile tower to me is 14.2 km away from my house in Tempe,A.Z. so that a pretty good test being that my closest good signal is like 15 plus miles away isn't it.Just thought that I would share that with you.Enjoy your weekend my friend.   Greg
Greg | May 18, 2012 2:43 PM
 Paul what is a quadurant bench test actually all testing on a smartphone?The lowest reading I have got was 2971 and the highest being a 3685.In your own opinion are those good bench mark test numbers?   Greg
Paul | May 18, 2012 3:19 PM
Quadrant tests the CPU, GPU and Memory with various tasks.  Naturally the higher you overclock your phone the better it will score.  Phones with Sense will score lower since they have tons of crap that runs in the background.  AOSP ROMS will run faster because they are bare bones.  3685 is really good.  I have never seen a sense ROM get above 3K
Greg | May 18, 2012 3:30 PM
 Thanks for answering my qwestion and for letting me know that 3685 is really good.and when I did that particular test my battery was only halfway charged it was at 66%.The fattest speedtest I got was a 7.95 down and a 2.76 uploading speeds pretty good huh!!! Hey when a really good,fast and stable cm9 Rom comes out will you please list it on your site.   Greg
Greg | May 18, 2012 7:01 PM
 Hi! Paul I forgot to ask you when I installed my Ics 4.0 Rom I used the no-frills out of the market for overclocking.I overclocked my sensation to 1.566 GHz processor speed.anyways I wanted to change the overclocking settings again and it won't let me.so I uninstalled the no-frills app that I used to overclock the processor and I went into my setting and then into my phone and then I checked my hardware to dee what the processor was at and its still set at 1.566.It will not go back down to stock @ 1.2 GHz.I re-installed and in-installed that no-frills app like 2-3 times and it just stays at 1.566 you can go up or down with or without the no-grill overclocking app.Do you have any idea why its stuck like that?It kinda weird isn't it.lol   Greg
Jason | May 18, 2012 11:39 PM
 Hello Paul how are you.Hey do I have to download the Rom I want to use from a computer and then transfer them to my as card?are can I download rims directly from my sensation and then use the Rom manager app to download the Rom onto my phone?    Jason
Dave | May 19, 2012 1:42 AM
 I would just like to say I really like and enjoy your site Paul.I have a HTC sensation 4G with just stock Ics 4.0 with 3.6 sense.If I was to add a faux kernel to my Rom.after its been installed would that workout alright.If I downloaded the faux kernel on my sensation and then install it through Rom manager would that work.I'm trying to get longer battery life.what apps,etc can U use to lower the temperature of your phones battery.     Dave

@Greg
The current CM9 Nightlies are very stable.  I have  been using them for the past week.  The battery life in CM9 is excellent.  I recommend you migrate to a ROM like AOKP, or CM9 that has the overclocking controls built in.  You don't need to download any special App to control overclocking on those ROMs.  I had issues with the overclocking APPs and HyperNonSense, hence the reason I moved away from them.  Flash the latest Nightly for CM9,  that will restore you back to a stock kernel.  Also make sure you flash the Google Apps pack as CM9 doesn't come with that by default.

@Jason
You can download the ROM directly to your Phone from the website, but I would recommend you flash using 4ext touch recovery, and not ROM manager.  I have never had much success getting ROM manager to work correctly.

@Dave
If you are into the Sense stuff, then I recommend you read up on the Sensation Forums on XDA-Deveopers.  Personally I have found sense to be slow, and full of bloat.  If you want to experience extreme battery life and awesome performance, I highly recommend you checkout the CM9 Nightlies.

 Hey Paul I just checked out that cm9 nightlies Rom Nd it looks pretty goof.Do you happen to know how long the Roma been out for the sensation and how big is it as far as how many mb's is it.   Greg

@Greg
I believe CM9 is about 120 MB, but that doesn't include Google APPs which you have to install seperately.

@Jason
As long as you are rooted and already have 4ext recovery installed, and you have flashed the latest 3.32 firmware then you can install the ROMS I have discussed here.

To get any of these to your SD card you can either use a card reader on the USB port of your computer.  OR use a USB cable to plug your phone into your computer, then put your phone into USB storage mode,  slide down on your screen to your notificatoins and select USB and enable USB storage mode.  Your phone's SD card should then be accessible on your computer as a removed drive.  Drag the ZIP ( ROM ) to your SD card, this will put it on the root of your SD card.  Then once its transfered unplug your USB cable and reboot the phone in recovery and flash the ROM.  If your phone is not bootable ( ROM won't come up ), then you can boot your phone into recovery( clockworkmod, or 4ext ), and put it into USB storage mode from there.

Like I said before if you have not rooted your phone, installed 4ext recovery, and flashed firmware 3.32, then you are not ready to flash a custom ROM.  When you download a ROM directly to your phone from the internet it will most likely go into the download folder on your SD card.  You can install it from that location as well, it really doesn't matter where the ZIP is located on your SD card, as you can navigate to it from recovery.

Also another note.  Don't bother with the ROM Manager APP,  do it the right way from recovery.
Jason | May 19, 2012 4:01 PM
  I already uninstalled Rom manager.and yes my phone is already rooted and I have 4 ext recovery on my phone.how do you flash firmware 3.32 on my phone?yes one of my Roma that I downloaded on my phone is in the downloads on my phone so how do I get it from there to navigate it to recovery?and the USB storage mode is that in the setting?and reboot the phone in recovery and flash the Rom.what does reboot the phone mean?and how do you flash Rom what does flash mean?reinstall the samething?and what does not bootable mean?and boot into recovery I know what that is but what is reboot into clockwork mod or 4 ext?and last put into USB storage mode where on the phone and where is that located at?How do I get to it.I'm sorry for a lot of stupid qwestion I just don't know or understand.I owe you my friend.   Jason

Greg | May 20, 2012 1:10 AM
 Hi! I downloaded cm9 biggies directly to my sensation and the 2 files that downloaded are called update-cm-9-20120519-nightly-Pyramid.and the 2nd file is sitemap.xml.gz. are these the files I need to download the cm9 nightlies Rom.The files downloaded into my Es file explorer.How do I get them from there to my ad card.and also will the titanium backup app backup the Rom that I'm currently running just incase I want to re-install it.  Greg
Jason | May 20, 2012 11:15 AM
 Hi! I want to thank you so much for all the technical help with my sensation.You have a tremenous knowledge when it comes to customizing smartphones.I greatly appreciate all your help.   Jason
Paul | May 20, 2012 1:05 PM
@Jason
If you haven't already got your firmware updated, then you need to download the firmware file from the link in the article.  This will download a PG58IMG.zip file.  Make sure this is on the root of your SD card.  Then read the article where it says "Updating your Sensation's Firmare".  That will update the firmware.

Once you firmware is updated you can update your ROM.

@Greg
If you are already running HyperSensation, or HyperSenseless, then you should already have the correct firmware installed.  Just do a full wipe on the phone ,and then install the CM9 nightly ROM.  After you install the ROM install the FAUX Kernel if you want to overclock it.  ( just keep in mind that Faux kernel will break camcorder ),  Everything else will work fine though.
Paul | May 20, 2012 1:09 PM
@Greg
I personally use titanium backup to backup my APP data.  Stuff like email settings on K9 Mail. But I still reinstall all my APPs manually when flashing a new ROM.

I have heard that some kernels can push your phone to 1.8+, but not all phones can handle this.  It might cause stability issues, so I wouldn't recommend it.
Greg | May 20, 2012 4:02 PM
  Hey I'm sorry I forget to tell you when I.downloaded those files to my phone they we.t into the es file explorer folder how do I navigate them from there to my ad card.   Greg
Greg | May 20, 2012 4:14 PM
 Hey I forgot to ask you to comments above about the cm9 nightlies Rom the to files I have listed are those the only to downloads the the faux kernel is all I need to install?Is there any special order that each file needs to be downloaded?and also how can you tell what firmware is on your phone.for the faux kernel can I just download faux kernel 005?Is that a good one?Is there any better kernels to use?I know there's something else I needed to ask but I can't think of it right now.    Greg
Greg | May 20, 2012 6:16 PM
  My kernel that I just downloaded went to my downloads and when I click on it es zip viewer and archive viewer pops up when one do I want to put the kernel into and what do I do next to get it to my ad card.Hey when you flash a Rom what foes that actually mean flashing a Rom.what are you actually doing to flash the Rom. .Gteg
Jason | May 20, 2012 7:32 PM
 If I tethered with my sensation using a USB cable than the wireless portable wi-fi I would.get faster downloads wouldn't I.If yes why because Im directly connected and not wireless.   Jason

I just bought a htc sensation xe with beats audio. within 15 days display got blacked out. The seller replaced with new display and touch screen. After using for 3 weeks, it has got another problem. Whenever I start using it, it works fine until mobile's back bottom part get hot. Then it starts multiple selection, even without touching it keeps clicking here and there. what should I do? In our country we dont have htc dealer. any solution to this problem?
Paul | Oct 17, 2012 11:34 AM
Sean,
If your phone is getting hot, that means your CPU is running too fast.  When chips get hot they start to through errors.  I am currently running inquisition ROM.  Very stable, very simple and fast.  The Sensation XE is over clocked by default, and this could cause the issues your describe. Root your phone, and install inquisition instead.

I haven't had a chance to update this page with the latest in ROMs for the sensation. Been too busy.  Hope this helps
Paul | Feb 13, 2013 12:28 PM
Just a quick update.
I am now running Virtuous Inquisition, other ROMs proved to not be stable long term.  Also I wanted to inform everyone about a new MOD.  Since Android No longer uses the Cache partition, this gives us 118 MB of memory we could use for something else.   One of the things you can do is move your Swap file to this partition.  Your Phone's memory is much faster than running the swap file off the SD card.  I installed this last night and its been one of the best MODs I have seen in a long time.  Install is easy just download the Zip file.  then install from recovery.  Aroma installer will take you through the setup.  I set mine to 113MB.  Here is the link for anyone interested in speeding up your Sensation.

Hello my friend. Thank you for posting this guide. It got me off the fence and committed to unlocking and rooting my phone. I followed all the steps in your guide and my phone works great! I am really happy being free of all the bloat t mobile has on their phones. I have one small problem and that is why I am e-mailing. My phone doesn't recognize any mobile carrier and I cannot re-establish my 4G connection. Wi Fi is working great and so I used that to sync my contacts. Do you have any suggestions? I am register on XDA developers forum and I have been looking for solutions there as well. Thank you for what you have shared. I appreciate it.

@pitzerdog2
It sounds like to me that your Radio is running the wrong firmware.  There is an APP on the Play store called GetRIL.  download it and run it.  It will tell you if your phone's RIL/baseband is matching.  If not it will help you download and install RIL.  If that doesn't work you might need to reflash your radio, there is a section on XDA dedicated to that.  Hope this helps

Just a note to everyone, I upgraded to a Galaxy S4 several months ago, and sold my HTC Sensation.  If you want the best ROM for this device I highly recommend you stick to the one in this article,  Or you can try Cyanogenmod.  The stable version should be good.  I personally am running the 10.2 nightlies on my GS4 and haven't noticed any issues.  It might be worth a try running the latest Nightly.  Just remember after you flash this rom, you need to flash the corresponding Google Apps, else you will have no play store.
