Why Blogging is important for your business

Paul WhiteBlogging is not just about sharing your thoughts and knowledge. It gives both present and future clients an opportunity learn more about you. Most
business deals are about relationships and not price. If you can establish a good relationship with a client, they are willing to work with you. The old 70s used
cars techniques are no longer valid in today's market. Consumers can quickly sniff out when they are being sold to. Its sad that the
marketing teams for many fortune 500 companies still don't get this. They think that pushing some TV commercials, with typical corporate propaganda on consumers is going to be the equation to success. The market and culture of selling is changing.
Recently an old friend contacted me about joining him to take on a website. He mentioned that he had read through my blog, and decided that from what he read, I knew my stuff. Even though I am very appreciative of his kind words, I still think I have lots of learn. But this made me realize that a blog is how clients can get to know you.. If you document your struggles to solve problems, and the solutions.. Clients can see what you know. Blogs also give clients a personal insight into who you are, as blogs are often filled with your opinions and views. If a person is comfortable with who you are and what you know, they are more likely to do
business with you.
Some people say that you shouldn't give it all way. Don't tell clients how to solve simple problems on their own. I admit that some of my blogs are giving away free advice, and this may cause some people to not call me for help. But the way I look at it is if a client can learn from a blog how to do it on their own, they really never needed my help. I am not worried about my clients learning how to program and start doing their own
websites, as this information is above most of their heads. Not that they can't learn it, but the time it would take ( years ) makes it an expensive investment of their time. To learn this stuff you have to really love it.
If you have a
business and don't have a blog, now is a good time to start. Its a great way to build trust with your customers before the
business relationship starts.
