Sony a99ii Overheating during 4K recording possible fix

Oct 6, 2019 by Paul White

When Sony's A99ii Full Frame DSLT camera came out it had leading specs that people like me drooled over.  But unfortunately it seems that Sony never intended pros to use this camera's 4K video recording for more than a minute of video.  I guess they want us to fork out the big bucks for a dedicated Video Camera, rather than have the novelty of an all in one Photo / Video machine.  After several years I think I have found the cause of the overheating, and its all in the batteries.

Sep 26, 2016 by Paul White

If you own a Sony DSLR or DSLT camera the chances are its powered by the NP-FM500H battery.  And like many other accessories sony sells they charge a premium for them.  This drives many of us to Ebay and Amazon to buy generic versions for our gear.  But the thought occured to me is it possible to rebuild these little battery packs?  I decided to crack one open to find out.

Jun 10, 2013 by Paul White

On this article I take my Sony a99 and compare the RAW photos against the JPG photos.  When taking photos with high ISO settings its nice to see how much of the performance is due to the Full Frame Sensor, and how much is due to the camera's built in post processing, DRO and Noise Correction.

Sony Alpha DSLR Focus Problem a900

Sony Alpha DSLR Focus Problem a900

Feb 16, 2012 by Paul White

I recently bought a Sony a900 DSLR off ebay.  The camera is in mint condition, but it had a major issue.  Some of my lenses would not get a focus lock, and the view finder was dark when compared to my a700.  Turns out the problem is a bent aperture arm.  There is a quick and cheap fix for this problem, however I opted to send my a900 in to Sony for a repair that was covered under the warranty.

Should I upgrade to a Full Frame Sony DSLR

Jan 22, 2012 by Paul White

If you are like me that means you likely own one of the APS-C Sony Alpha DSLR cameras.  After years of shooting with my a700, I have reached the point where I am considering going full frame.  After a visit to the Sony Store at the Houston Galleria, I have pretty much made up my mind that Full Frame is the way to go.  On this article I share my observations of the a900 of which I demoed, and how it differs from my a700.

La Crosse BC-700 NiMH Battery Charger Review

La Crosse BC-700 NiMH Battery Charger Review

Feb 10, 2011 by Paul White

In this modern day everything is powered by batteries.  Especially if you have kids.  Every toy these days requires at least 3-4 AA, AAA, C, or D batteries.  There is no reason to buy regular old single use Alkaline Batteries.  This is because rechargeable batteries have come a long way in the past 10 years.  But before you go off and buy yourself a pack of Energizer Rechargeables, there is something you need to know.  All batteries are not created equal, and the same goes for chargers.  If your set of rechargeable batteries seems to no longer hold a charge, it could be it has developed a memory.  However if you have the La Crosse BC-700 AA / AAA Battery Charger, then you can usually refresh these batteries removing the memory making them like new.

Temptation Lounge is a brand new nightclub for Houston lifestyle couples ( AKA swingers ).  I did the website for them, and last night I went in to take some shots of the club before it opened.  Lots of Lounge seating, 2 large bars. Big dance floor, private rooms where I am sure some very naughty activities will happen.  Grand opening is Saturday night ( 14th valentines day ). Check out the photos

Feb 6, 2009 by Paul White

Sony A100Sony A700To save anyone the time of reading my blog for the detailed reasons. Let me just say, upgrading from the Sony A100 to the Sony A700, was a good decision.  Lets put it like this.  If these two cameras were guns, I just went from a musket riffle, to an 50 Cal full auto.
