Obama's Speech to ASU

Paul WhiteObama gave an awesome speech to the ASU graduates. His main message was to do what makes you happy and not what makes your rich. Some would argue that in a Capitalist economy, financial gains will always be the key motivator. But if we look at recent years, those who's goal was to get rich often loose focus on what is important.
Even though successful people are often surrounded by
cars, money, and sugically enhanced women. Its not like these people said they wanted to have these things. They wanted to build a
business, or offer a service, and over time they became successful. If all you want is to have a nice car you can get a loan, and leverage your house. But if you look at the most successful people such as Warren Buffet, you will notice how he lives a very modist life. No fancy
cars, no big home. Why? because to him these are either depreciating assets, or assets that have long term financial costs associated with them. His focus has been on building successful companies. Sure this might make him worth billions, but having billions is not what motivates him.
The key to being successful is not planning on how you are going to spend your money, but planning on how you are going to make it. If you take the average teenager, they could easily tell you how to spend millions of dollars on bling. But they can't tell you how to make even $10K. When people stop focusing on how they are going to spend their money, and instead focus on how to make money, they are closer to success.
