I recently bought a DJI Mavic Pro Drone. Plan was to use it for Ariel Photography and video for both personal and commercial purposes. Yesterday I was testing some of the advanced fetures like tracking, and I ended up running my drone into a light pole. After that all I can say is Mavic Pro is one tough drone.
My subject was walking away from the drone and it followed, then my subject turned 90 degrees to cross the street ,the drone started getting very close a light pole on the corner, so I tried to back it away from it, but the drone instead of moving away clipped the pole, causing it to twist around the pole flip upside down, and then about 2 feet from the ground it corrected its fall and hovered in place. I am truely surprized. I landed and them inspected for damage. The only Damage I could find was one of the blades was chipped, but this didn't affect its ability to fly. I would have though the frame would have gotten bent up, and the blades shattered, but it wasn't. It took the crash like a pro.
Granted it was moving very slowly, and was only about 12 feet above the ground when it crashed, but I am still impressed it was able to take on a light pole and keep flying.
I have since orderd a set of replacement blades, so I can replace the chiped one.
Thus far to anyone thinking about getting a drone, I highly recommend it. The options it gives you with content creation are simply too good to pass up.
