One of my neighbors works in management for Comcast here in Houston. After talking with him it would seem that Comcast has big plans for Residential Service in Houston. Like 50Mb/sec type of plans. Or for those of you who prefer to think of data transfer in Bytes. 6.25 MB/sec downloads.

Today as I was working on my blog, I noticed a google ad that was advertising Colocation and Dedicated Servers. I just happen to be in the market for such products, so naturally I clicked the ad to learn more. What I found made ma laugh. Its obvious that the managers of the datacenter, don't have a clue when it comes to IT.

After parking some of my larger websites on Godaddy's Dedicated Servers about a month ago. I have found where Godaddy is weak. To say the least By Nov 1st I plan to shutdown my godaddy Dedicated Server, and move them to a colocated box with a local Data Center here in Houston.

Recently I moved a few of my clients to Godaddy. Even though I hear lots of bad things about godaddy, my websites are running faster than they had been running on HostMySite. Turns out that this speed increase might have more to do with PING times than the hardware they were hosted on.

Recently I moved my client to their own dedicated Server. I can't say enough good things about this. If you have ever wondered why a dedicated server is good, read this blog.

So one my clients has recently out grown their HostMySite VPS box. It was time to migrate them to a larger box. The choice we went with was a Windows Dedicated Server with Godaddy. In this blog posting I explain the server we got. Why we picked certain features, and how the setup is going. This is a must read for anyone who is thinking about Hosting with Godaddy.

If you have found this blog post, the chances are you have already searched the web for hours trying to figure this out. Running a single website on godaddy is not a problem. but once you start running multiple asp.net websites on your godaddy hosting account, and they all use custom 404 handling as part of URL rewriting you will run into problems. Here is how I made it work.

For those of you who are considering using Godaddy for Hosting your website, I have written a detailed blog to help shed some light on the good, and bad and the ugly about doing business with godaddy. Searching google you will find plenty of negative reviews on their hosting and support. This is an unbiased writeup that is written from my point of view as a developer that has built websites for over 8 years.
