I recently bought a Sony a900 DSLR off ebay. The camera is in mint condition, but it had a major issue. Some of my lenses would not get a focus lock, and the view finder was dark when compared to my a700. Turns out the problem is a bent aperture arm. There is a quick and cheap fix for this problem, however I opted to send my a900 in to Sony for a repair that was covered under the warranty.

If you are like me that means you likely own one of the APS-C Sony Alpha DSLR cameras. After years of shooting with my a700, I have reached the point where I am considering going full frame. After a visit to the Sony Store at the Houston Galleria, I have pretty much made up my mind that Full Frame is the way to go. On this article I share my observations of the a900 of which I demoed, and how it differs from my a700.

In this modern day everything is powered by batteries. Especially if you have kids. Every toy these days requires at least 3-4 AA, AAA, C, or D batteries. There is no reason to buy regular old single use Alkaline Batteries. This is because rechargeable batteries have come a long way in the past 10 years. But before you go off and buy yourself a pack of Energizer Rechargeables, there is something you need to know. All batteries are not created equal, and the same goes for chargers. If your set of rechargeable batteries seems to no longer hold a charge, it could be it has developed a memory. However if you have the La Crosse BC-700 AA / AAA Battery Charger, then you can usually refresh these batteries removing the memory making them like new.

I have finally mastered the settings that will enable you to get the shot with your Sony Alpha Camera. These settings should also work on other brands such as Nikon and Cannon.

Every photographer eventually finds themselves in a dark place ( nightclub, concert, bar ) trying to get some cool photos. But we get home only to find all our shots were under or over exposed. This is the time when you realize that you didn't spend grands on your camera body to take pictures in AUTO mode. After trial and error and reading multiple blogs, and forums, I have found the perfect settings for great nightclubs photos from your SLR camera.

Temptation Lounge is a brand new nightclub for Houston lifestyle couples ( AKA swingers ). I did the website for them, and last night I went in to take some shots of the club before it opened. Lots of Lounge seating, 2 large bars. Big dance floor, private rooms where I am sure some very naughty activities will happen. Grand opening is Saturday night ( 14th valentines day ). Check out the photos

To save anyone the time of reading my blog for the detailed reasons. Let me just say, upgrading from the Sony A100 to the Sony A700, was a good decision. Lets put it like this. If these two cameras were guns, I just went from a musket riffle, to an 50 Cal full auto. I know its hard to believe the A700 is that much better than the A100, but it is. Read more for the details

Before any of you get too excited, I don't have any photos posted yet. Tonight I got thinking about how unhappy I have been with the photos taken recently at a few nightclubs in Houston. All I am going to say is its all in the Flash ( SONY HVL-F56AM ) and how you don't use it. Read more for details
